Being born and raised in Rockford, Beef a roo has been a staple in my diet since I was a child. Excited to try this beef a roo, we have dined at this location 3 times. Each time, there were inconsistencies. Tonight, I was super disappointed with the quality of food and service.
The guy at the register was nice enough, I assume a manager, and if so is overlooking A LOT.
Upon observation while our food was being prepared, a gentleman making sandwiches had no hair net and his hair was about chin length around his face under his hat. The guy on fries was scooping the cheese out of the large metal container with a plastic spoon.
Once I received our food for my sandwich, the bacon was stale, the signature beef was not hot, and my bottom bun was mushy. I ended up throwing it out. The baked potato was perfect. The cheese fries were quite stale, cold, and unsalted. The cheese did not settle in the fries like its supposed to — if you go here often, you know what I mean! We threw out half the cheese fries. Also never has happened. The shake was good. And for some reason the water from the machine tasted like …. soap. Quite odd.
Anyway, skip this one and stick to the Rockford locations. Otherwise hit up Culvers. My guy prefers Portillo’s and Buona Beef. Looks like Ill be going...
Read moreIt is definitely a great spot for a good and quick bite. I went here and the restaurant was quite busy. I really wanted to eat their food because I hadn't had it in years, so I decided to go for it. The food from here is really good and just like fast food, but definitely one of the best. The service was slow, yes, but the food was fresh and hot. The burger I ordered was literally fresh from the grill because it was hot and fresh. The portion was really huge too. I specifically ordered their bacon cheeseburger and I liked that they put a lot of bacon on it and it was cheesy as well. It was really delicious and tasted really fresh. The feeling of eating it after a really long time was just a great feeling, and it did not disappoint because it tasted as good as before. I also ordered some fries, which were good too. The food was great. Prices are reasonable. The place is clean, and the atmosphere and vibe are just something nice. The only downside I can mention is the slow service, because, of course, the restaurant is packed with customers. Maybe I should try their drive through next time and see if the service...

Use the drive thru here about every other week. Avocado Turkey Jack Wrap is my order every time. The guy that owns it with the glasses is normally very nice. Today I said to him, " last time I ordered my Avocado Turkey Jack Wrap you gave me the sandwich instead. I'm a diabetic so I couldn't eat the bread and threw away the sandwich. Any chance I can get a free diet coke for the trouble?" He said, "that's funny, I needed a good laugh and charged me full price". As a Diabetic it is so hard to find good fast food options. Too bad... I really liked the food here. I won't be back.
UPDATE: Had to respond to the owner's response. I hit your drive-thru because I don't have time to sit down and eat. I didn't discover the issue until I was 5 minutes away and didn't have the time to turn around. I can't believe you would let a customer leave for 25 cents worth of diet coke. I will be sure to share this story will all my coworkers...
