I live in the downtown area and I try and support our local businesses whenever possible, but late last Saturday night (Sept 19) was horrible at HOB. I don't go out for a beer often and have been to this business a handful of times over the last couple of years. I walk in around 1am and approach the bar where I observe signs that state you will only be served seated at a table. So I walk to the closest table to the bar and front door and take a seat. I sat next to another table of 4 ppl and observe the waitress taking their drink orders while her back is to me so I wait patiently thinking I would be helped after them. WRONG. After sitting for twenty minutes and observing other patrons walking up to the bar and ordering drinks and others at games and tables being served I was in disbelief. I had my ten dollar bill sitting in front of me with my almost empty btl of water I brought for my walk there. I walked to the bathroom and back thinking they would notice a new customer is present. Got back to my table near the bar and sat, and sat. I finally decided to get their attention by lighting a cigarette, I say and smoked a whole cigarette at my table and not one person came over. I had enough and stood up and walked over to the waitress and asked for the mgr or owner, she then stated "you can't smoke in here" as I asked if she was the mgr she walked to the front door and held it open for me and I followed her out. A man drinking at the picnic table stood up when I came out asking who I could speak to that was in charge. The man and two women yelled profanities at me demanding I get off their property as I told them I sat for half an hour with no service and smoked a whole cig inside while all staff was oblivious and I told him it was unacceptable customer service. I was called every name in the book for stating my dissatisfaction to him and the ladies as they screamed get off the property which I immediately did while telling them I videoed my whole experience inside. Suddenly I have the man (I presume an owner) and a younger gentlemen run after me telling me to wait, asking my name, to which I informed him he would see on fb and wfla whom I was. I told them it was too late to try and make it right since I won't repeat what names I was called, you can just imagine yourself. So I continued my walk back home with my ten dollars and btl of water I came with. I found it so offensive how nasty I was treated after complaining about lack of service. And even more offensive when they tried to talk so nicely to me, ONLY AFTER I informed them I documented my experience. I suppose if your twenty something you may have a better experience than I, a man in his fifties. Never again, will I step back into that establishment. "No way to run a business" which is exactly what I told the two men that ran a block to catch up to me. I will be sure to advise all my older friends not to bother with...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the dirtiest bars I've been in a while!!! it's a dark dungeon. All the beers taste the same beer lines are absolutely disgustingly dirty! The music is way too loud. So my experience goes like this I get to this little crappy hole in the wall the next thing I know they have a horrible live band who can I get there coustics right. Finally get a seat at the bar order a sculpin that taste like cat piss. After a couple of drinks me and my 3 other friends have to talk a little louder because of how loud the music is and all of a sudden some fat overweight bartender who has been rude all night long turns and while yelling sesuatu you'll have to yell so loud where then I responded because your crappy music is too loud where his response was leave if you don't like it keep in mind I'm on my second beer it's the Kentucky bourbon aged ale which is a delicious beer but only House of beer could screw that up. I would have given it a 0-star just wouldn't let me do that. I would not recommend this bar to...
