Oof. So disappointed. The venue itself was SO COOL, I loved all the spaces! But frankly, the beer was mediocre at BEST, and the environment wasn’t great, either. The staff was kind of rude and short when trying to interact and ask questions… and the kids running around the bar were loud, distracting, and obnoxious… and while I was initially excited about the childfree areas that were posted — they have absolutely no enforcement for that… so even though we chose an “adult only” space… there were still kids around us screaming, trying to play with dogs that were distressed, spilling beer on tables, etc.
Not sure why kids were allowed to act like heathens. Especially because in any other space other than a daycare… this wouldn’t be tolerated and I’m disappointed the staff (or parents) didn’t step in to mitigate the situation for people who were clearly irritated… but it was frustrating, to say the least, that the clearly posted childfree areas were still crawling with kids and, even though everyone around us were clearly annoyed— and leaving by the dozens— no one seemed to care and the kiddos were allowed to continue screaming. If the kids were better behaved, feel free to bring them… but i saw SEVERAL kids yelling, jumping on the cornhole sets (best of luck with the lawsuit when a kiddo falls or breaks an ankle) and there were NO parents to be seen — AT A BREWERY, and no employees to rectify the he situation. We had exactly one beer before leaving and wont be back. HIGHLY recommend Woodwright Brewing super close by. Oh, and you’re a parent of a kid at HOB who lets the kids run rampant—...
Read moreYou must visit HOB if you are in Dunedin.
It's a great brewery for anytime of the day. The reason for that is there is seating in the sun, and a large area of seating covered, but still outside. So, if the weather turns a bit foul you can still enjoy beer in the outside.
They have a large selection of beer styles to try. I wish I had more time to try them all. I went for the Pale Ale, a Session IPA that was black (and tasted good) and their Splashin' Around IPA recommended to me by Terrell (like Owens).
Staff there were all incredibly nice, and Terrell whom I dealt with the most really was someone who liked his beers.
They don't do flights, but do 9ox pours and samples. Which is a great idea because when you have a large selection of beer some people might get overwhelmed. Whatever you do, sample the Peanut Butter Blonde. It was such a unique beer and worth a taste.
There are also non-alcoholic options, wine and seltzers to cover everyone so this would be a great place for a date because everyone is catered for.
They have food trucks some days and a snack shack on site as well. I wasn't there on a food truck day, and I was also in the mood for just beers so I cannot say how the food options are, but, there are...
Read moreMe and the wife stopped here because we love to visit breweries. So we ordered our beers and the place had a good outdoor area. The beer was ok nothing great but we were enjoying it until my wife pointed out a sign that said you could smoke cigarettes but No cigars. We Thought that was a weird sign. So I asked the person serving us and all she said was some people don't like the smell. But the smell of cigarettes is so much worse especially burning all those chemicals. Cigars are clean smoke. This is the second time we have run into this type of prejudice in Dunedin. Luckily we found another brewery not far away and they just laughed and said we could smoke cigars on their patio, and a bonus the beer here was great. I'll share that review later. Stay away from this brewery if you care...
