I stumbled in here randomly because I was pulling up to a restaurant nearby but decided last minute that fried seafood would be better.
For a "fast casual" restaurant, I was sort of blown away by this spot. Ordering was easy and fast and I really enjoyed the whole vibe of the place -- the interior decor was rustic enough to fool me for a second into thinking that I was picking up seafood at a shack in the Outer Banks. I came in well after sunset and the atmosphere was very cozy with dim lighting and wooden booths and tables.
i really enjoyed the quiet minutes i was able to sit in the booth reading my book, waiting on the food, smelling the delicious aromas from the open kitchen and listening to the chefs talk quietly amongst themselves. these are the moments that I live for and that lodge into memory forever, to be recalled at a later time with a sense of nostalgia.
Most importantly, the seafood was nothing short of spectacular. if you ever have a hankering for FRESH seafood, this is the spot. I had the fish & chips and a half order of fried shrimp -- both tasted fresh and were perfectly battered and fried. the chips were crispy and well seasoned and the assortment of dipping sauces was excellent and all of them tasted homemade. Both the shrimp and fish were served with lemon slices for extra zing and freshness. YUM!
A truly lovely experience that reminded me to try something new once in a while.
Can't wait to come back soon.
edit: the only way I could think to make this spot better is if they would add fried clams to the menu! just a...
Read moreWhen I say I walked in and immediately felt the warmness and passion. I had to tinkle and wash my hands, after I was greeted by a sweet seasoned woman who had just made fresh cookies. I left my glasses in the car so I need help with the menu and she was spot on. I don’t cook anymore being a new Emptinester, so I eat at the beat restaurants where I will be satisfied and have good service. This place beats almost all of them. I was comforted. I had the mixed vegetable melody which was amazing and we cook, these were exceptionally well cooked perfect crisp and hint of lemon, butter light seasoning. My palate screamed with happiness, the fried shrimp, I went to the sauce bar thinking I would need it. The gentleman that was one of the cooks said he ate them by themself, he was dead on so freaking flavorful! Then to top it off! Omg! I haven’t had soup in awhile, she Also suggested the clam chowder 😍😩😋 I was rocking and happy! I am going to shower and sleep very well. I am so happy. It’s very hard to get me to this point unless my Sissy cooks!
YALL ARE AWESOME! I pray y’all stay busy and passionate. I tasted the love in what you do. I’ll be back! If y’all had a bar to make killer margarita with Mizcal I would be here every day😂 Thanks y’all! Great service! Nobody can say nothing bad about y’all! I ate lots of my food before I took the picture I couldn’t stop😂 The bathroom was really clean to with very good hand soap one of my go to with...
Read moreI decided to try brown bag seafood for the first time. I read the reviews and it seems that the food is good.
After seeing how the restaurant responds to customes feed back, "I'm sorry you feel that way" "we talked to our staff and found nothing wrong" "our manager is centric with customers he would never" I should of continued my search for places to eat because it shows you that this person does not like to be wrong, so I will not be surprised to receive a response trying to invalidate my experience.
I decided to go inside the establishment to get a sense of the atmosphere before placing my online order. It went like this
Me: enters store, walk to the register to place my order.
Staff: A guy wearing glasses eccentric guy, walks up, asks, "do you need to place an order"?
Me:"Yes, there's a magical eraser right here"(Visibly dirty sitting on the checkout counter)
Him: "Are you scared of it"
Me: "No, this is my first time trying this place and it's not a good first impression"
Him: "A magic eraser"? stating sarcastically. He finally picks up the dirty sponge. Then asks what I would like to order.
Me: Completely turned off by the interaction. I said no thank you and left out.
I didn't feel right paying my money after being spoken to in that manner. It was apparent that his idea of cleanliness wasn't as big of deal as it should be for...
