Left extremely disappointed. Food was out quick I will give them that. The minimal amount of chicken that came with the $18 dollar plate of chicken and broccoli Alfredo did have fantastic flavor. That’s where the compliments will stop in regards to the food. Pasta was either undercooked or of horrible quality because if you told me it was microwaved I would have believed you. A couple bites was all that could be stomached. The chicken was great but for the price you would think a little more would have been there. I mean I couldn’t find the justification for the price. At least with more chicken I would say it would have made up for it. Salads were laughable. Standard bagged iceberg lettuce with A (1) pickle chip and a pinch of tomatoes thrown on. Allllll this could have been overlooked, however, when I go to pay, the receipt was difficult to read because it was at the end of the paper roll. Instead of reprinting the receipt the young lady behind the counter says “I think this is what it says” after asking the others standing there and no one could answer for sure and proceeds to charges my card for over 50 dollars. For a plate of chicken Alfredo, a lasagna, an order of mozzarella sticks , and two waters. I wasn’t going to stiff the waiter so left a solid tip still to get out and be told by others in my party that tip was included in price. No way for me to know since no one, to include the girl charging my card, could read the receipt. So a pretty disappointing meal for over 60 dollars. If that was the correct price or not. Service was good though. The waiter was pretty on top of stuff and friendly. He was the only good thing I really have to say about the visit. Could have went to the store and got a frozen dinner with about the same quality. Not really a fan of “I think that’s it” when it comes to my money either. Never again.
Replying to the owner:
I am aware of the other reviews. Unfortunately this was not in line with my experience so it’s irrelevant as to what they are. I am glad you have been able to provide those others with that experience. I wish this was case when I visited. Also, I never accused the restaurant of robbery. I am very familiar with the elements of a robbery and not once stated that. I should have asked to speak with you. I got to a point where I was almost dumbfounded as to what happened at the register and began to become rather upset about it as I started to add up the meal price in my head. It was not a meal that deserved a $61.88 price tag. I will take blame for not coming back to the restaurant and addressing it with you but at that point I was rather upset about it. I hope you are able to continue the positive experience for other diners. I hope the young lady takes a much more professional approach next time then guessing if she is correctly charging someone’s card or not. Not saying the price of mine was wrong or correct, but neither me nor her know. That’s the issue I have with it. No one at that register could read that receipt. I was told the number was my table number when I made a comment about it. That was obviously not the case according to my bank account. So robbery? No, no where close. Bad experience? Absolutely. Continue to earn your good reviews from customers, I just will not be...
Read moreMy family and I went to celebrate my husbands birthday and this place truly disappoint everyone at the table. There was a bit of a wait which was fine. But once we sat down our server Britney took our drink order then disappeared. 20 Minutes later our drinks were at our table along with the complimentary bread. For an Italian restaurant I'm shocked at their choice of bread. It looked like a baguette that they couldn't take the minute to fully cut through, it was barely toasted. To be clear this was the best part of our meal. Britney then proceeded to take our order to which it took 40 minutes to get JUST OUR SALAD. To then which my mother asked how long for the main course, she said 10 minutes. The Italian dressing for the salad was watered down Kraft Italian dressing. We had to ask for my sons spaghetti and meatball to arrive with the salads because he was starving! Ten minutes came and went and we still didn't have our main course. 15 minutes went by and that's when my mother went to a manager and miraculously the food was at our table. It wasn't even good. The fettuccine Alfredo was overcooked and salty. My mother in law couldn't even eat it. The tortellini was hard. My husband got the tour around Venice (Ravioli, eggplant parmigiana and veal parmigiana ) The ravioli was was bland and the sauce was salty. The veal was just unbranded cubed steak! It was thicker than a snicker! The eggplant was the only semi decent thing he ate and that's saying a lot. I, ordered the baked ziti. When you think baked ziti you don't normally anticipate a meat sauce - I personally do not eat ground meat. Maybe I looked over that in the menu and if I did that is on me. But it was such small portion of a meal. I barely had any pasta in my plate it was all meat sauce. At that point I just wanted to go home.
Also, pretty annoyed that I had to change my daughters POOP diaper in her car seat at our table. Their bathrooms have no changing tables. Did they think I was going to throw a blanket on the floor and change her?
I am extremely disappointed. TWO HOURS WASTED AND WE ALL LEFT HUNGRY. NEVER GOING BACK. Britney, you were sweet but I dont think being a waitress is the best career choice. I say that with the upmost respect because I know waitressing is not...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this place. The prices are good- the decor is not. It's dark and outdated, especially the outside. When I tasted the food initially I thought it was great, but as the meal went on it was extremely heavy- it needs something fresh to help lighten it up- like fresh basil in the sauce. Then I think it would be perfect. If you're starving this is a good place to go, but if you're looking for a place that feels 100% homemade, balanced, and fresh, maybe skip this place for another time...all depends on what's more important to you. It's good cheap Italian for a casual night out. For the owner- I'd be happy to be more specific- I did bring up how heavy the meal was to our server, but this is a preference and not an absolute. The reason for mentioning that the meal needs a pop of freshness is so it tastes more homemade- homemade from scratch food usually has that fresh quality to it that takes it from level 10 to 11. Essentially, fresh basil would improve the sauce on my palate, but this is not true for everyone. I also found the sauce to be slightly bland/under-seasoned, which fresh herbs would also help with that. As for the outside, it is the green awning that is what makes the eatery seem outdated. Your style of awning is very reminiscent of the 1970s-early 1980s (depending on your customers this may be a good thing). The inside is very dark and does not offer what I usually think of as a family restaurant which includes light, bright colors (typically makes restaurants feel bigger)- but this is one person's opinion. Being in business for 50 years is a great thing, and I never said that the food was bad because it isn't- as someone who is very experienced with the restaurant industry, I am a firm believer in that there is always room for improvement within the limitations of your clientele's preferences and constructive criticism. For the demographics of Capri's, the current business model is very successful. I am simply one of the pickier customers because of my background and nothing more- it is a great casual restaurant for those that want less expensive...
