Alright, buckle up, because I'm about to sing the praises of Town Diner like it's the culinary equivalent of a standing ovation. Town Diner: A Slice of Heaven Wrapped in Chrome and Vinyl Forget those trendy, overpriced eateries. If you're looking for an authentic diner experience, a place where the coffee flows like a river and the comfort food hugs you from the inside out, then Town Diner is your destination. From the moment you step through the gleaming chrome doors, you're transported to a simpler time, a time when a stack of pancakes and a friendly smile could solve just about anything. Let's start with the heart of any great diner: the staff. And oh, the staff at Town Diner! "Friendly" doesn't even begin to cover it. It's like walking into a family reunion where everyone is genuinely thrilled to see you. You're greeted with warm smiles and genuine inquiries about your day. They remember your name, your favorite order, and even that little anecdote you told them weeks ago. It's the kind of personalized service that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. They anticipate your needs before you even voice them, refilling your coffee, offering extra napkins, and always with a cheerful "Is there anything else I can get for you?" It's not just a job for them; it's a genuine passion for making people feel welcome and comfortable. And then there's the food. Let's be real, you don't go to a diner for molecular gastronomy. You go for hearty portions of classic comfort food, and Town Diner delivers in spades. The menu is a love letter to American diner cuisine, with all the staples you crave: fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, juicy burgers, creamy milkshakes, and those melt-in-your-mouth pies. Everything is made with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. The pancakes are golden brown and impossibly light, the bacon is crispy and flavorful, and the burgers are juicy and satisfying. And the portions? Let's just say you won't leave hungry. You'll leave with a full belly and a happy heart. But it's not just the quality of the food that makes Town Diner stand out. It's the atmosphere. The retro decor, the comfortable booths, the clatter of plates, and the murmur of conversations create a warm and inviting ambiance. It's the kind of place where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy a good meal without feeling rushed. It's a place where you can catch up with friends, have a family breakfast, or simply enjoy a quiet cup of coffee and read the newspaper. In short, Town Diner is more than just a place to eat. It's an experience. It's a reminder of the simple pleasures in life: good food, good company, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's the best diner I've ever been to, and I can't wait to go back. If you're looking for a true diner experience, look no further than Town Diner. You won't be...
Read moreI have been going to this diner frequently for the past two years. I have always loved everything I've ordered with the very occasional (and, mostly, rare) bad experience. This last time was the absolute worst experience I've had. The diner does not have a classic turkey club on their menu, only triple decker styles. So, in the past, I would order a BLT and ask for turkey to be added and have never had an issue. Today, the waitress refused to take the order and forced me into ordering the triple decker turkey club for an extra $3. Afterwards, I got frustrated and explained that I did not want a triple decker sandwich. Anyways, we moved on and got our food and I was served the correct meal. I figured all the frustration was behind me.
Now, I personally am a picky eater and I've come to find ways to work around that and not be a hassle to employees or even other patrons that I'm with. One of the things I do, especially with sandwiches, is "dissect" the food and rearrange each ingredient to be at a quantity I enjoy. I don't expect any cook or server to know what I prefer. So, I dissect the first half of the sandwich, eat, fine. The second half, I tear apart the giant mound of lettuce and a slightly viscous clear fluid runs down my fingers. It's not hard to tell what spit looks like. I'm not sure if it was a cook or the server, but one of them spit into a piece of lettuce, folded it up, and put it on my sandwich.
My boyfriend informed the manager(?) and I showed her the lettuce and the disgusting spit dripping off of it. Her response was "I'm sure no one spit in your food" to which I responded, "Well that's not water from it being washed." She offered to have a new one made, which is appreciated, but after a disgusting experience like that I refused and promptly left the restaurant while my boyfriend paid for his meal. To be honest, I didn't want him to even pay for his meal after that. It's completely disrespectful and disgusting service.
Absolutely never going back to this diner. Which is sad, because their fries...
Read moreAfter looking at so many positive reviews, I was very excited to try their corn meal pancakes as well as their french toast. Too bad I almost died after eating there.
After taking a few bites of their french toast (which, for the record, did not have "includes nuts" in its menu description) I began feeling the effects of an allergic reaction coming on. My friend, who was eating with me and is not allergic to nuts, affirmed my suspicions by saying it indeed tasted nutty. When I spoke to my waiter, he assured me that it is not made with any nuts or nut products, and later repeated this after apparently speaking with the chef. This causes me to believe that the food was contaminated with nuts, which in itself indicates unsafe cleaning and/or food preparation techniques. About an hour later, back at home, I was experiencing such severe symptoms (the most severe allergic reaction I have ever experienced, for that matter) that I had to be rushed to the ER.
Was very disappointed that an institution which seems to have received much praise by its customers could actually be a danger and a health risk. After speaking to the owner over the phone, I received repeated "I don't know what happened" and "All I can do is apologize". Well, apologies mean nothing after a serious health issue has arisen.
I rarely leave reviews for restaurants but I felt this needed to be put out there. I wish Google would let me post this review with 0 stars, but it seems I must give it a 1 star rating. Those of you with allergies or health concerns, beware. Actually, that goes out to everyone. Better safe than...
