Was so looking forward to having dinner here. Have been going to vineyard for 30 years and have eaten at many places. I also have never written a review for any restaurant in all my years visiting .As total foodies, we know our food. Looking at the reviews figured we had to give this place a try. Drinks, delicious. Oysters, so fresh and ice cold. Appetizers, ok. Mains- so when you claim to be a steak and oyster place one would think they would know how to prepare a steak. My husband and son ordered the $150 porterhouse MEDIUM RARE(prices are at a peak on the island during the summer) with two sides the gnocchi and Dauphinoise Potatoes. The steak sadly, came out almost well done. We told the "no personality" waitress, she apologized, and took it back to have the kitchen make another one. After about five minutes someone came by the table, didn't introduce themselves and offered to keep our "sides" warm while the second steak was being prepared. At that point, I told them how can they offer to keep gnocchi and potatoes warm for the amount of time it was going to take and based on how much the steak was, the least you could do is make new sides to serve when the new steak came out. Well, needless to say, new sides were brought out with a new steak that was now practically black and blue. The waitress asked how it was, and we told her it was soooooo rare but after an hour of waiting the men were hungry and ate what they could, she said she would tell the chef. Not a soul came back to our table to ask how it was, apologize for two wrong preparations, or even offer a dessert or anything. The steaks were thick and making a steak "perfect" is hard, but for $150, I would hope it would be close to perfect. We had no problem spending the money for a meal we thought would be great, in addition to all our cocktails and bottle of wine, but we were absolutely so disappointed that if a place claims to be a "steak" place then at least that item should be prepared well. Spending the week on the island, we ate at State Road, Sweet Life, Salvatores, Atria(makes a steak for two, out of this world), MV Chowder House, and Red Cat Kitchen. All the places were great, but if you want a killer meal, even if a little rushed, Red Cat Kitchen is DELICIOUS. Get their crispy oysters, (we got them for appetizers and then again for dessert) and if they have the halibut/lobster special, get it, best meal on the island. 19 Raw Oyster bar, again, oysters were great, but I would never eat dinner there again, sadly. Sometimes a place doesn't live up to the hype and this place was definitely...
Read moreThe food was delicious! We had Oysters, Tuna Carpaccio, Lobster Cocktail, and Clam Chowder, Lemon Cake and the House Pinot Noir. Everything was so fresh and plated beautifully. Outdoor dining was great. All around 10/10.
My only negative was our server. (The rest of the staff were very friendly) We gave her the benefit of the doubt at the start that she may be having a bad night but our meal was definitely affected by it. She was short, un-attentive, and lifeless about everything. Downright rude a few times and impatient while we were there celebrating my friends daughter's 12th birthday. On a night of joy and excitement for us, she delivered a slice of cake and candle to a kid with little kindness. We cringed at every interaction with her. She took my friends plate of food that had more than half still left without asking her if she was finished. She forgot my first appetizer and was rude after I waited 10 mins to ask about it after my friend and daughter were served theirs. As if I made a mistake. We tried to ignore it but I can't help but remember that more than anything. Her tip was affected. Our food runner in the 30 second interaction we had with her was more attentive and friendly than our waitress was through our entire meal.
We will be back and I will continue to recommend 19 Raw but I would definitely refuse to have the same person as the waitress. Great atmosphere and the playlist was the best! Might go there for my own birthday in...
Read moreI found this spot on TikTok and wanted to try in while we were in town. The food was absolutely amazing!!! The fried snapper, fingerling potatoes, and Brussels were very good. My fiancé also enjoyed his old fashioned. We also ordered the dauphinoise potatoes but they unfortunately were just not good. They were very dry and overcooked. The truffle sauce was the saving grace. Though we loved our food, the service honestly was not great. Many of the people around us were consistently waiting on servers to check in. It took awhile to get our order placed. And the servers weren’t very helpful or knowledgeable. For example, I went back and forth with our server because i was wondering how the Brussels sprouts were made. She kept saying they were fried with nothing on them, no flavor, not sweet and had pork pieces. I asked could we have them without pork and she said no. And i asked was there anything drizzled on them or a sauce and she kept saying no. That just didn’t sound right to me but i let it go. I then looked at the photos on google and could clearly see a sauce so i called her back over and asked her to please just check with someone else. She then came back and confirmed i was correct and described the sauce to me but everything seemed like a burden to her. I would definitely go back but feel this wonderful of a restaurant should have much...
