We have frequented varied HBBs throughout the Twin Cities so we were excited to try the Edina location for the first time for Father’s Day. I totally recognize that the cons I am about to share may be skewed due to the holiday but that’s the beauty of reviews. It was extremely busy. The line to the host stand was fairly long, but again, we figured due to the holiday. We had made a reservation so my assumption was we would encounter a wait but not one that would be longer than those that did not make a reservation. I was wrong. We were a party of 5 and I am guessing that they are limited on seating options for large parties. Parties of 4 or less, without reservations, continued to be seated prior to us. Aside from that, the space is actually quite cramped so it felt odd wherever you chose to wait- bc you were always in someone’s way (particularly the wait staff). Idk, all host stands are the same at HBB so this one just seemed majorly inconvenient bc the entry way is smaller, even though it mimics their other locations. All in all, we waited just shy of 30 minutes for our table. We would’ve waited the same length without a rezy…
(The hostess did apologize after we had been seated).
Our waitress, Elaina, was AMAZING! She was personable, attentive and beyond kind. She had so many tables and there was not a single moment where we felt like we had to flag her down for something. She is honestly one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had.
If you go, ask to be seated in her section. She will make your experience...

I was disappointed by Hope because I’m a major breakfast food fan. My mom and I went for brunch and the food was overall average and below our standards. I’ve eaten much better breakfasts and brunches for half the price of what Hope charges.
For the $50 ($60 with tax&tip) we spent on ours (2 savory dishes, pancakes, and plain coffee), we could have gone to Wise Acre in South Minneapolis and had insanely fantastic food, special coffee drinks and superb service.
The “avocado toast and poached egg” I had was just super oniony guacamole on plain sliced soft bread, with unripe tomato slices and pickled raw vegetables on top, with again too many onions. Disappointing.
The “McHope biscuit sandwich” my mom had was fine, but the egg was much too runny and she just touched the sandwich with her fork and it ran all over her plate. The biscuit was too cakey and gummy, and not flaky.
We also wanted to taste the carrot cake pancakes- so we ordered the baby cakes- she instead brought us the full-size order, and charged us for that too. (We didn’t notice that until much later today). The pancakes were really sweet, and I don’t think they were carrot cake as much as just spice cake.
Also, spending $60 on the simplest brunch food? We could’ve stayed home and made all the same food ourselves - would have been free and much tastier. And quieter!! We won’t be going back...
Read moreThis was the worst establishment I’ve ever visited in Minneapolis. The place was incredibly noisy, and the staff was completely unprofessional. For breakfast, I was served a spicy chili pepper scramble without any warning from the server. The potatoes were half raw. The water they served was straight from the tap, which was shocking enough, but when I asked to purchase bottled water, they didn’t have any on the menu. How can you offer guests tap water and not provide an option for quality drinking water?
The coffee was bitter and undrinkable. When the server finally came over, I mentioned that guests should be warned about spicy food being served for breakfast. I have stomach issues and cannot eat anything spicy—scrambled eggs should never come with chili peppers by default. This led to a scene where the chef, another server, and a manager all rushed over, speaking quickly and causing a commotion. Other guests started staring at our table, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.
Despite all this, they still included the dish on my bill, which I had to pay for. I left feeling completely disappointed, with my mood ruined for the entire day. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Save yourself the trouble and go...
