Review based on one dine-in and one take-out experience. 1. Extremely rude staff member at reception. Lacks basics of customer service 101. Treats customers as if he is there to discipline them, not serve them. Had it not been for his rudeness, I'd probably not have bothered to write this review. In a nutshell, his rudeness was the cherry (oops! grease) on the icing (read: gravy) that prompted me to write this review. 2. Below average, unhealthy food. All gravies on menu pretty much taste the same and are loaded with unhealthy (what looks and tastes like palm oil) grease. 3. See pic for above reference. No Indian dish needs that much oil for cooking and tasting good. And, That's only the amount of oil we were able to drain out from that little bit of gravy (Nargisi Kofta) in the bowl. That's enough oil to make a whole new dish for 6! There's probably double the amount still floating in that bowl. 4. Overpriced food for the quality and experience. It's a rip-off. And who serves $7 naans even after the recent inflation accounted for ?? 5. Wish I could rate the place less than 1 star. 6. Never going again for that unhealthy, unsavory experience. 7. Recommend staying away if you care for your health! :)

Loved the food to the core. This is one of the place I’d recommend if you are craving for “Indian” style Indian food. Back in Ohio I have tried few Indian restaurants but it doesn’t serve the taste. An Indian curry needs to have the correct spices for spot-on flavor and perfectly cooked with right amount of oil/butter. My personal opinion is that not every dish is meant to be super hygienic (less oil/butter, less spice, healthy veggies). So I don’t mind when I see a curry/naan made with extra oil/butter. Me and my family were visiting my cousin at NJ and I wanted to have some good Indian food. We ended up going to Honest. I knew that it’s famous for pav-bhaji back in Gujarat but I had craving for some Punjabi food. We ordered Indo-Chinese for appetizer, Punjabi for main-course, the owner recommended new addition of Ras-Puri-Shak for kids and we all enjoyed our dinner very much. The service was very quick for a weekend. With Ashaji’s songs running in the background, it was an excellent time spent with entire family. Will definitely visit again.

My niece was visiting from SFO and we went here to give her a taste of Indian chat. We ordered panipuri, bhelpuri, samosa chat - the whole deal. We were told it would take 20-25 minutes. We came back after 20 minutes and were told samosa chat would take a little longer. No problem. We said ok, we will wait and just looked at an empty seat. The guy at the cash counter stretched his hand out - partly to show us out and partly to block us from sitting down - and told us that the waiting area is outside. Seriously, dude?? The whole place was empty with maybe two tables occupied and it would have killed you to let us wait at an empty table for 5 minutes while upu finish our order?? We went outside to an area that was non-airconditioned. Thankfully it had a fan. Never before have I been denied access to a table at any eatery while my order is being prepared. This was a first. Congratulations for embarrassing me in front of my guest. Last but not the least, the food was too hot and too spicy.

If you have self respect then please save yourself a trip and try out many other decent places in Edison!

The staff is very arrogant and they do not own up to their mistake but instead blames the customer.

My family and I decided to go there one night for dinner, we called regarding their hours and they mentioned their kitchen will close in about 40 mins or so. The lady who answered the phone suggested that we can place an order so it would be ready by the time we get there and we can be seated as soon as we’re there. We placed our order with her and once we got to the restaurant they mentioned there weren’t any tables available and if we can wait outside. There were 11 people in my party waiting outside and we were the only ones waiting.

Another 45 mins go by and they call us in to PICK up our food. We were confused as to why they packed our food to go. We talked to the lady and told her that we placed an order since you suggested that the kitchen will be closed and we can be seated once we got here. She completely denied having that conversation and started making excuses.

The manager blamed us as well but what’s new about that when it comes to Indian businesses. They just assumed that 11 people will be waiting for a take-out order...

After everything they insisted that we should pay for the order we placed or the lady who took our order will get fired but not sure how that’s any of our concern.

A month later, my sister went there for dinner with her friends. One of the waiters came up to her and started YELLING at her in front of the entire restaurant. He started telling her how the lady got fired since we didn’t pay for the order that we didn’t even take it from them.

Forget about them even trying to apologize even...

We went there as a big group; 6 families. They took the orders and then there was silence and wait for more than an hour before the food came. Others who came after us, ordered, ate and left. The staff did not care, the manager did not care. When the food started coming, they brought it randomly when we told them to serve the kids first as they were hungry after a long drive. Nothing worked.

As for food, it tasted OK, but the prices were expensive as compared to other good places nearby and the quantity was very less. Not a good value for money. There are much better places in the area. Save your money and go somewhere else. They also wanted to conveniently added 15% extra service charge when there was hardly any “service”. We fought and got it removed. Never had such a poor experience with a restaurant in a long long time.

The washroom proudly displayed “we are going green”, hence use the hand dryer instead of paper towels. The hand dryer installed did not work. Obvious, there were no paper towels. We will NOT be returning to this place. It just isn’t run by smart people who understand this industry and business.

To their credit, the cheese tikka masala...
