We had a very disappointing experience at this IHOP. It took 30 minutes to place an order due to their systems being down, which I can understand. However, no one came over to us to let us know why we were waiting. Our waitress was no where to be found durning this time. We were just left sitting there with no communication. When the waitress came to take our order I expressed my frustration and she told us that we didnāt have to eat there and asked us if we needed more time to decide. We ordered our food despite everything and then our waitress went and talked to the manager. The manager came over to our table and the first words out of his mouth was ā I understand you might be in a hurry and we can place your food order but youāre going to have to wait for the system to come back up so you can pay before you leave.ā I asked how long it typically takes for the system to come up and he said about 30 min. We had our order placed and waited patiently. Our waitress brought out our food about 20 min later and we asked for hot syrup to go with it. She brought the syrup around about 8 minutes later. We started eating and about halfway through our meal the waitress walked by our booth without stoping and asked if everything was good and said okay before anyone could say a word. Not even caring for the answer. The most concerning part, towards the end of our meal as I was cutting up the fruit for my daughter, we found mold on the fruit- some of which she had already eaten. We stopped eating and I took a picture and waited for the waitress to come over. The waitress came by with a ticket and I asked for the manager. When the manager came over he was visibly distracted by incoming calls on his smart watch to listen to me explain my concerns with our whole experience. He asked what food had mold on it after I had just told him which food and I was holding the bowl of fruit in my hand. He looked at it and said āIām sorry about that, have you paid yet?ā I told him we had not paid yet and he said āIāll take care of thatā then he walked away without saying another word and answered his phone. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed. The managerās attitude made it clear that he did not take our concerns seriously and gave the impression that he thought we were only trying to get a free meal. The fact that my daughter was served moldy fruit is unacceptable and a serious health and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food here is good (aside from the one time my french toast was charred black, not sure what happened there), but both the service and speed are really hit and miss.
I order on the IHOP app. Most of the time, my food is either ready when promised, or ready shortly after that. However, there have been a small but significant number of times when I ordered on the app, showed up at the specified time, and STILL had to wait an additional 20 or 35 or 60 minutes. These are not large orders, usually just an entree and a side.
The first time this happened, the employees kept telling me that my food was already on the takeout table, despite proof that it was not. After 30-40 minutes of this, someone finally figured out what happened: a door dasher apparently grabbed my order by mistake. Unfortunately, it still took a while after that for me to get my food, and the only reason it wasn't delayed even longer is because a manager told them to prioritize my order (which apparently they weren't planning to do by default).
More recently, I had to wait 35 minutes past the estimated completion time for a simple order, and when I did finally get my food, it was so undercooked that I had to finish cooking it on my own stove. One of the servers did offer me a free side for the wait, which I appreciated, but any goodwill I felt from that offer was lost due to the messed up main entree.
I've worked in restaurants before, so I understand that sometimes unexpected delays happen. But the lack of communication here (both from the employees to the customers, and between the servers and the kitchen staff) is a huge problem. And every time I've experienced a major delay, no one seems to have any sense of urgency on fixing it.
Because I cannot trust this IHOP to consistently finish my orders on time, I've started only ordering from here if I have nowhere else to be for at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst my boyfriend is using a Walker and the waitress expected us to pass behind another person in a wheelchair. My boyfriend said no an sat a a more accessible table. We then told the waitress that we were on separate tickets. I had a coupon for my granddaughter and I. I asked if my boyfriend could use the other coupon. I figured we would not be able to use them both, but figured there was no harm in asking. She said we could not use them on the same ticket. I reminded her we were on separate tickets and she said we couldnāt use two coupons at the same table. I said oh, that wa not what you said. My boyfriend jokingly turned to the table be hind us and said ok, I am a a different table. The waitress turned saying she was getting a manager. We tried to explain that we understood about the coupon and we were joking with her. However, she walked away and immediately there was a manager at our table to explain the coupon policy. We explained that we understood and that we had just been joking. We were over the incident, but the manager kept explaining why we could not use them both coupon. I said, I understood it was their rule. Her comeback was we donāt make the rules. I am not sure why this had to be drug out, it did not start out as a big deal for us, but was turned into a big deal. I was frustrated and told my boyfriend I was not tipping the waitress. Next thing I knew we had a new waitress. We did Tip the new waitress and probably would have tipped the original waitress. I understand that service jobs are no fun and typically tip well and try to be kind, because of it. I donāt normally go to IHOP but since we had a coupon, I thought it would be quick and easy. Sorry for the...
