Torchy's is street taco specialist that started as a food truck in Austin back in 2006. Nearly 20 years later they have over 110 branches around the country including a few locations in the OKC area. I recently stopped by their Edmond branch at Bryant Square on East 2nd Street. There is a fairly large indoor seating area along with some outdoor tables as well. Opening hours are around 10am to 10pm give or take an hour depending on the day.
Menu is what you find at other Torchy's branches, mostly tacos with a handful of other Mexican food items. Portion sizes are pretty good, 2 soft tacos is enough for most, order a third if you have a big appetite or are particularly hungry. They have chicken, beef, seafood and veg taco options, mix and match based on your interest.
On the occasion, I really enjoyed the baja shrimp taco which had nice spritely flavours. The fried avocado taco was pretty good as well. Chicken fajita taco was very tasty, beef fajita was just ok, the steak was quite hard and chewy. Would just go with chicken next time. Margaritas served on the day were strong and tasty as well. This was a fun dinner, one I'd happily repeat when in the mood for...
Read moreI went there for the first time tonight. We waited in line forever because they only had one person ringing up orders in the main line (there were two at the bar and like no customers there). I got an Alabama Shake and it was okay, I wasn't a big fan. There queso is pretty good and their chips are amazing. However, we ordered 4 chips and queso for our table and asked specifically for 4 things of chips and they brought us 3. My brother ordered a Rangler taco and received it and it had zero meat on it (it is supposed to have both bacon and beef). We told one of the workers and they said the Rangler doesnt have meat. We then asked another one who had NO idea what was in it. We went and looked at a menu and it said beef and bacon and asked for a taco that resembled what we ordered, with meat. What food employees first of all, dont know the menu, and secondly, if they dont know something, dont say "oh I'll go check". NICE TRY Torchy's tacos. Would NOT recommend this place to...
Read moreThis place has gone so far downhill. Food is fine if it ever gets there. Tried their new online app. Waited in the parking lot for 20 mins for an order queso and 2 kids quesadillas. One was child was asleep so couldn't wait in line. When the app said my food was ready walked inside expecting the food to be ready. Since that's what u was texted.
Surprise surprise no food inside. I tried to get anyone to help since I was new at the app thing. Person after person pretended not to see me as they went about their business. Finally an overworked bartender scoffed and said "oh we just got really busy that's going to be a while, when it's ready it comes out here"
I said hit I ordered ahead and they said my food is ready I have to be somewhere. She rolled eyes and motioned to the same empty racks where I guess food sometimes shows up whenever they aren't busy.
Sad to see such an awesome franchise run so poorly. We used to drive to Norman to eat...
