Let's shed some light on the sort of establishment you REALLY are. I happened to notice a public post highlighting an incident that occurred at your bar. A young girl and her college-aged friends stood outside in the cold because you literally REFUSED to allow people within your bar because of their demographic. It's 2017, despite the current climate of our country. Do better.

YES, I am calling Bauer and his establishment RACIST. Not understanding how you are located in a university city which prides itself on diversity, but behave as though you hadn't a shred of common human decency since 1952. Even if you are somehow capable of creating a valid excuse for the UNFOUNDED reason you turned around 21+-year-old, paying customers in a bar that was NOT CROWDED, you sealed your fate when you sent the poor girl a personal message on Facebook, saying nothing more than "Don't come back to Big Daddy's!" in response to her review.

Rather than addressing what she (rightfully!) believed to be an incident of discrimination, you turn your back on your consumer and solidify her impression that she isn't welcome there. We will gladly take our dollars elsewhere and bury your reputation along with the trash you seem to hire...

BLATANT RACISM. My first and last time here since I moved to edwardsville 4 years ago. I will be spreading the word about this place to everyone I come in contact with and the right people with be contacted about this place. I read reviews after the fact and I guess this place is known for it. Had I known I wasn’t welcome, this place wouldn’t have even been a thought. My friend and I went on a slow sunday night and we weren’t even acknowledged. Eye contact was made with bartenders and they pretended like we didn’t exist. But then I finally realized we were the only two black people and it dawned on me. It was quite surreal actually and I didn’t believe it at first because it’s something I’ve never experienced first hand… The place was practically empty with maybe 2-3 small groups . There were even white customers who noticed without us even saying anything and were confused, even offering to say something to the bartender for us. We left unserviced, unacknowledged, hurt and disappointed. My night ended in tears. Truly an eye...

Worst experience ever. I went there with some friends, we asked how much a drink was and we're told 6 dollars. ordered one each and they charged us 10 dollars. Then while I was paying (reluctantly) I got kicked out because they want an "older crowd" and they wouldn't even let me explain that the bartender still had my card. I had to GO BACK the next day because the establishment was being ageist and rude. I was sitting at the bar, talking to my friends and on my phone being nothing but polite when I get kicked out.
