When we arrived the doors were propped open which is not a good thing on a warm muggy Saturday evening. We were seated by a young lady who was qualifying customers based on their desire to be seated inside, I suppose she didn't want to walk all the way outside. Once seated our server Oscar G came to our table, which may as well have been outside as it was about one foot from the propped open side door, he mumbled a few things we could not understand and took our drink order after being disappointed that we were not ordering appetizers. Oscar returns a few minutes later and places my dates drink on the table without saying a word, there is no drink for me! Several minutes later Oscar returns and asks we are ready to order at which point I inquire as to the location of my drink, I am told I did not order one by Oscar, I repeat my drink order and Oscar takes off without our dinner order to get it. When my drink finally arrives we order tostados for my date and fried tacos for me. Less than five minutes later our food is delivered to the table cold, not sure how this could have happened unless some other waiter took our fresh meals for one of the large groups on the patio. Normally I would have sent our meals back but we were on our way to a show at the Wildey Theater and this would have made us late. We choked down what we could, paid our bill and left. I am doubtful we will ever return to...
Read moreI ordered my food to go via phone. I ordered fajitas nacho mix. When they wasn’t clear on that included steak shrimp and chicken I should have recognized the red flag. However I still continue with my order. Upon getting back to work with my food I opened the container and saw that the nachos had shredded cheese and looked very distasteful. I instantly called the restaurant and spoke with the owner who lacked customer service and Mexican authenticity. I explained to her that the food I received was not as expected. She stated well that’s how it is on the menu and I have been serving it that way for 12 years. I informed her that no Mexican restaurant serves it that way and I am very displeased. She was not willing to compromise with me and not trying to offer to make it right with paying $22 for 8 chips.Customer satisfaction is everything in a business and she definitely didn’t have any of that. Definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone going there. Owner...
Read moreThis is our second time at this location. I love the texture of the fried chicken tacos, which is why we gave this location a 2nd try. The Soulard location has a lot more atmosphere, but we knew that going in this time around. The Edwardsville location is nicely decorated, but much more quiet and upscale. I was really disappointed that all of the food seemed to have a lack of seasoning. The rice had a very mild chilli pepper flavor -no other flavors- and the beans were normal refried beans (nothing special). The fried chicken tacos were piping hot and the texture was as good as I remembered; however the distinct lack of seasoning had me craving a dipping sauce like sour cream or queso. I ended up putting the queso from our appetizer on the taco that was an immediate improvement. I am definitely ready to go back to the Soulard location and see if it is as good as I remember, but for the price and flavor will probably not return to...
