The Cup — Restaurant in Edwardsville

Not impressed. Went in to get 5 cupcakes for my daughters birthday, the girl working stood leaning with her bottom against the counter while I ordered, she never smiled, didn't speak other than to tell me the price which was a whopping $21 for 5 cupcakes. I thought, oh well, not everyone is friendly. Maybe shes having a bad day. Whatever. Get home serve up the cupcakes to my family for a birthday. We had a goldrush I think was the name, 3 birthday cake & 1 tuxedo. All 5 of us scraped the icing off, it was gritty and tasted like butter. The cupcakes themselves were ok-ish. The white cakes were dense and chewy rather than moist and fluffy like a cupcake should be. We gave 1 to the baby for her 1st birthday cake smash & it was so dense it just broke into 3 or 4 pieces and sat there, she didn't even smash it up or eat it. I was pretty disappointed for spending over $20...

These were worth the money until they got greedy and started skimping on the frosting I mean these are not cheap, but to cut on product all the while expanding the store size is like giving the middle finger and the last couple months the cake on the cup cake hasn’t always been fresh either, maybe frozen 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t know but the quality is not there like when they first opened. And when they run a special of the month it’s unacceptable not to have them on hand?Now there is “Nothing bunt cake” up the road and they are new but fresh is a guarantee 😉. I hope the cup gets their act back together because the next time will be the last for me if the frosting is skimpy then they can keep it and I will gladly pay for better...

Great service w/subpar hygiene practices. The cashier was very nice and friendly, but packaged my cupcakes wearing no gloves after handling the currency of the previous customer. I kindly asked that she put on a pair of gloves and prepare more cupcakes that she had not touched with her bare hands. As she kindly obliged my request, my issue is why did I have advise her of the proper food safety practices. I then noticed the other employees were also packing goods with no gloves. I have added The Cup to my list of places no longer frequent. I speak for myself when I say I cannot afford to take chances like that...
