My wife and I went to Juicery Plus for lunch today and had an unpleasant experience. We have been multiple times before and never had an bad experience. She had a quinoa patty burger and I had a felafel burger. The patty on both of our burgers was mushy and little better than eating a burger with guacamole for the patty. While the burgers were disappointing, we both agreed that the fries were awesome.
However, that was not what had us leave vowing to never return. I ordered a smoothie as listed on the menu. Yes, the menu dutifully lists all of the ingredients, so I knew what I was ordering. When I received the smoothie, each sip was initially good, but quickly moved to a very unpleasant protein powder flavor. I took the shake back and asked the cashier if they would remake it without the protein powder and as a good customer service person, she agreed to do as any other restaurant would do and remake the shake to help the customer have a good experience. As I was sitting back down, I heard the manager tell her to come back and tell me “we will do it for you this time, but make sure you order it correctly next time.” I said that you, I didn’t know the protein powder would be so bad. She went back behind the counter and then the manager came out and reiterated several times that this was my fault and how big of a sacrifice the store was making for my error and that it says clearly on the menu that it has protein powder in it. I started by letting her know I didn’t know their powder was bad and apologized for my ignorance and as she kept on, I apologized for my wife and I being dumb enough to spend $40 for lunch there. She said I was right that we didn’t have to ever come back and left in a huff.
Later my wife (who is far more gentle natured than I am) spoke with the gentleman who said he is the owner about our experience with the manager. He tried to say they value the customer service experience, but then tried to defend the manager by again shifting the blame back to me for not knowing that I would not like something that I had never tried before was not to my liking. Then also defended the restaurant by bragging about being voted best smoothie in El Paso. My wife tried to clarify that I could not have known without trying it, and he again just bragged about being voted best smoothies in El Paso. Ridiculous…
Having worked in a restaurant and having been to many over the years, it is rare for me to ask for a replacement, because I only do it when what I have is virtually inedible. I also know that restaurants that value customers and customer service will happily replace the unsatisfactory item with no charge and no questions. They care about you and ensuring your experience is positive so you will return. As we informed the manager and she readily agreed, we won’t be returning to...
Read moreFor a food franchise that labels their items by ingredient, you would think they’ll add “honey topper” or “almond/nuts added”. They don’t. Eating my Ocean Breeze Bowl, I tasted something that seemed to be honey, but seeing as maple syrup was also on the menu, I thought maybe it was that. I hadn’t seen any honey on my bowl NOR was it listed. There was honey. As someone who is allergic, I’m now placed in a very unfortunate position of whether or not I’ll need to go to the hospital. I went to go ask one of the employees if there was honey in any of their menu items, she said “yeah some” so I asked, “is there honey in the Ocean Breeze Bowl?” And she responded with “yeah, we top it off with honey”. She says “we usually ask if you want it,” I was not asked. I once again mention “that seems like something you should put in the ingredients or the menu” and she says “yeah we should, sorry about that”. I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t list something like this.
Not to mention, our cashier was very passive about how we needed the app to receive points or any amenities.
Overall, a very unprofessional experience and a health risk for myself and any of those who have any allergies to unlisted (but IMPORTANT) ingredients on the menu.
Only good note: the establishments...
Read moreJust tried it for the first time today. I got a bunch of things to try. So far, I've had the strawberry lemonade and the BBQ Jackfruit burger. I wasn't sure what to expect, but so far, both were delicious. In glad to have another vegetarian option in El Paso!
The only thing i had a problem with is the chia pudding. The menu doesn't mention anything about blueberries in it and I hate blueberries and there was a ton of blueberries in it.
Other than that, everything else was good
ETA... I ordered something yesterday. It should have had raspberries, strawberries, and pineapple in it. The receipt shows that. I put it in my freezer so I could eat it today and I go to take a big bite and it was filled with blueberries. I don't know why juicy plus keeps shoving blueberries in things, but please stop shoving blueberries where they were not ordered. I absolutely hate blueberries. It's like the one fruit I have a personal vendetta against. So many times blueberries are showing up in things. Keep your blueberries to yourself if people...
