I'm actually from Houston and merely flew in to El Paso to help out in a struggling market, but I'm no stranger to Luby's. However it's been quite awhile since I last ate at a Luby's, so while conducting my work yesterday on a Saturday (5/27), when I stumbled across this Luby's, I made the conscious decision to stop by here for lunch/dinner the next day. I've always enjoyed Luby's and have for the most part always had a pleasant experience, but most or all of the Luby's in my area have closed up, so it's a been a hot minute since I last visited one. Actually there used to be one just up the road, about 8 minutes from my home, directly in front of a Target store I conduct work in on a weekly basis, but they shut down years ago. Kinda bummed me out honestly, but the quality of their food could be hit or miss sometimes, so perhaps them closing up was inevitable. This location though, all I can say is it reminded me why I love having lunch here. I ended up getting the Cheesesteak, which is my go-to, Spanish Rice, Mashed Potatos w/ white gravy, cornbread, green jello, & a Coconut Cream Pie, and let me just say everything was AMAZING. I was given decent sized portions (the freaking Cheesesteak was huge compared to what I'm used to getting), everything was hot, fresh, & cooked to perfection, I had a nice booth over by the windows with the sun's warmth grazing my body, the place was clean and well kempt, the waitress was kind and friendly, I just overall had a fantastic experience and would recommend anyone to visit this location, whether you've been to a Luby's before or have never tried one. My dinner was so good and I was just so impressed, that I simply had to write a 5 star review cause it really made me miss this restaurant. Now when I get back home I gotta check and see if there's any of these still around anywhere, but if ever have to come back to El Paso to help out in this market again, I'm most definitely stopping by here, provided I have the time to do so. I got lucky I could take Sunday off to come have lunch here, it was well worth it 😋

Buffet style and a lot of tradition, both are big staples in Texas. Luby's has a long tradition and the walls oozes with it. I like that aspect. Their line looks clean and the staff is friendly. I had the fried chicken. Good crunch and not dry, bit more seasoning. The fruit was good. The mashed potatoes was just lacking something and the corn was generic. I was excited for the pie, good and sweet at first, but then half way through it had a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste that didn't allow me to finish it. The tea was semi-sweet. The only other off-putting aspect was the floors, a lot of the floor space was dirty as if they didn't take a minute or two to properly address areas or floors before they sat down a new table. But honestly, I do like the place and they are busy for a reason. I'd come back.

I've been to this location on Yarbrough in El Paso twice this week. It was delicious each time. The staff is friendly. The food fresh and well presented. I am a vegetarian. I enjoy Lubys wonderful veggies being meat free! They have 3 different types of green salad. Beet salad! Kale salad with cranberries! I can fill up my tray with healthy, filling, protein rich greens! Further down the line they have steamed squash, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, sauteed cabbage, plain Mac and cheese or Mac and cheese with jalapenos! The choices are too many to name! For you meat eaters their is pasta and meat sauce, ribeye, chopped angus beef, chopped steak with cheese, bacon and onion, Iiver and onion. You be won't be disappointed.

I don't know what is going on with Luby's. The food was no bueno! I had looked at the website and it clearly indicated there would be meatloaf, enchiladas, roast beef, all these things. We got there and there was enough fish you would have thought it was Lent. The roast beef was so dry, I kid you not, it would have made a great pair of flip flops! No enchiladas, no meatloaf! We all just kind of looked at each other because we were trying to see what was the lesser of the two evils. Just awful! But, set that aside and my severe seafood allergy, the servers were nice and apologetic for the very dry meat entrees. Some of the sides were room temperature. Good way to get good poisoning. Then there was dessert for my grandchildren. I don't know how old they were, but they had refrigerator taste. If my grandbabies don't eat their dessert, it's bad. Again, table service was very nice. I don't know what else to say. This has happened more often lately. I remember a Luby's that use to have a really great selection of food that was hot and the presentation was quite inviting. I don't know what is going on, but when you walk by and see that food has been left on the plates, that's not good. Especially when some of those plates look almost untouched. I remember a time when my family jumped at the chance to eat a Luby's. Now, we pause to decide whether or not to eat there. Sorry Luby's, but this is happening a lot more often than I care to mention. It's too bad. We use to have our family meet ups there so many times. I love to eat, but not today. Holidays are coming- hope you think about what and how you serve your food to your customers. We can be forgiving and trusting. I hope that counts...

Absolutely! Here's a positive review of a restaurant:

A Delightful Dining Experience at Lubby’s.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lubby’s, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The service was exceptional. Our server, Letty, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were happy to answer our questions and offer recommendations, making us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. She always excels every time we come to this place.

Now, let's talk about the food! Every dish was very tasty. Everything was cooked to perfection. The temperature of the food was spot on. I had some fish with two sides. I had some spinach and mashed potatoes. Usually in other spots this taste like box or caned, however this was a welcoming home meal experience.

My parent had the pistachio crème? Not sure of the actual name, please don’t judge for that. In my defense I just go there for the food and the quality service of Letty. 😁

Overall, our visit to Lubby’s exceeded all expectations specially with Letty service. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a warm ambiance made for a memorable evening. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. I can't...
