Tapalpa Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Elk Grove Township

As someone who works in customer service, I understand that mistakes happen, but when they happen repeatedly without proper resolution, it’s hard not to be frustrated. I ordered fajitas from this restaurant on October 7th, and for the second time, they failed to include the extra tortillas I requested. It’s such a simple thing, but for the second order in a row, they missed it.

When I called to address it, I was met with a disappointing attitude. The young lady on the phone insisted the extra tortillas were in the same packaging, but there were only three tortillas, not what I asked for. Rather than trying to help, she became defensive. I asked to speak to a manager to resolve the situation, but she told me there wasn’t one available and then hung up on me.

As a parent, this was particularly frustrating because my kids ended up fighting over the food, all because of a simple mistake that could have been easily avoided or, at the very least, resolved. I know firsthand how important it is to own up to mistakes and try to make things right for the customer, but that basic level of service was completely absent here.

I want to support local businesses, especially ones I’ve ordered from before, but after this experience, I’m not sure I’ll be coming back. Service like this makes it hard to trust they’ll get it...

We had dinner here on Friday for the first time. We sat outside on the patio which was decorated simply but it was cute. My fiancé ordered the Arrachera con Salsa y Queso. I got the Huevos Rancheros. The food was great. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The sauce was very complimentary. My Huevos Rancheros had a pretty spicy smoky red sauce which was a little different from what it normally comes with but I really liked it too. I would definitely come back for this same meal. What wasn’t the best was the service. Everyone was very friendly but our server seemed to have forgotten about us…multiple times. We had to flag other servers down just so we could ask to order food. Had to do the same every time we wanted another drink. The hostess took our order because our server was too busy. I totally understand that can happen and it’s the nature of food service but we were also spending decent money and having to stress about getting someone’s attention to do so. This place sucked, i went with my dad for our lunch break and of course were dirty after spending 5-6 hours of working outside the dude that was taking our order infront looked disgusted by the sight of us and immediately offered if were going to have it as take out (which is understandable we were dirty and we were gonna anyway) but it didnt add up as well with the context of it, we ended up getting the burritos with a jarrito the total added up to be $40 we waited for about like a hour for us to get the food and the whole time the same person working the cashier kept giving me and my dad some weird looks like we owed him some money or something but honestly it looked like he was on something else with how wide he kept his eyes open so then we get our food and we had never had burritos that bad im telling you they used some cheap products, for the price we shouldve went...
