I want to start off by saying that the menu there is incredible and the staff always go above and beyond. They’re all incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful every time I come through here. However, this review is in regard to the way the owners treat their employees. I feel it is imperative that people know about it.
As many already know, on March 15, 2024 there was an armed robbery on the 100 block of West University Way where someone was killed in the altercation. Near the Jerrol’s location of Winegar’s. As a result, businesses in the surrounding area went into lockdown. However, the owners of this establishment forbade the employees from locking their doors. It wasn’t until an employee informed them of the shelter in place order issued by the EPD that they allowed the location to go into lockdown.
Following this, when asked to close at the U&A location out of fear for their safety since the suspect was still at large, the owner refused. Instead, they sat in at that location and ridiculed the employees behind their backs, mistakenly messaging said employees instead of the other owner.
As a result, 4 employees quit within the span of 48 hours following the incident. Good for them. They deserve so much better.
Words can’t even describe how disgusting this behavior is. Every single employee at this establishment deserves to be respected and have their safety valued. If not for them, this place wouldn’t be up and running, or as successful as it is today. God forbid the owners get up and step in when they need the extra help — they don’t even know how to do any of the work their employees work so hard to do. Without their staff, they would have nothing.
I could go on and on about the disgraceful behavior exhibited by the ones running this place, but at that point I’d be writing an entire essay about why they don’t deserve to have such an amazing staff.
It is clear that the owners only care about making money and the reputation of their establishment, and not the well being of those that make that reputation and revenue possible. The locations are understaffed, they are not accommodating to their employees, and do not care about their safety. Rather, they prioritize sales.
I like to believe that what goes around comes around. Things need to change. This is...
Read moreAround 5:30 pm on Wednesday may 17th, the girl with short brown hair and dark glasses who was taking orders outside the drive through was very rude. We have never been to Winegars before so we don’t know the menu, and instantly when we pulled up, she asked what we wanted. We asked “can we please have a second to look at the ice cream flavors” and she said “no” and that she couldn’t wait for us to look at the menu??? So we ordered something random we didn’t even want because we didn’t even get time to look at the menu. The she came back with some much attitude and gave us our change and just walked away…then proceeded to glare at us the whole time in the drive through like we had insulted her by asking to see then menu. I’m sorry but have you ever heard of customer service? I was so excited to try Wingars with my friend for the first time and the experience was completely ruined because I didn’t even get so see the ice cream flavors. How was I suppose to know what I wanted somewhere I’ve never been without seeing a menu? I couldn’t pull up the menu while driving obviously? I’m so mad and my happy ice cream date with my friend is ruined.
Update: 90% sure her name is Tatiana after some research. As someone who’s always worked in customer service/food…Hire...
Read more1 star!!! Not worth it! I bought my entire family coffee and so my coffee was wrong and it was remade. I ordered an ice cream espresso and I was given a hot coffee with the same order. I made them aware that it was supposed to be an ice cream coffee and they remade it. When it was brought to me, it was an iced coffee. I explained again that it was supposed to be an ice cream coffee and I was told that it’s not something you make, I explained I’ve ordered them many times. “You want a peppermint patty?”, I didn’t order anything with peppermint even in it. My whole family was dismayed by the disrespectful discourse I had to deal with. I said never mind, it was fine and left. I got home and realized after one drink that they had taken that hot drink and put ice into it. Iced but still warm, It’s now a watered down garbage coffee. I will never buy a coffee from winegars ever again! Don’t tip these people 20%, you don’t know if you will even get what you came for! I wish that I didn’t want to start my day with winegars today, could’ve spent that money on something the whole family could enjoy, including me. I will certainly never solicit winegars again! You shouldn’t either! Thanks and merry...
