To start, I normally Don’t write reviews, mainly due to a shortage of time- but this pastry (I got the cinnamon nut Bun) was a not-so-little, tasty piece of heaven!!! And I also felt the need to point out a notable, but quite fixable flaw I found in the whole of my experience..

The Old Mill Cafe with its outer & inward charm, cozy atmosphere, along with the overwhelmingly delicious selection of pastries, drinks, and entire menu would be receiving a 5-star review from me had it not been for my less than shabby, frankly rude, service. The young girl who “waited on me” had a chip on her shoulder from the start. When I had asked her what their frozen beverage selection was, she replied “smoothies”.. As I was taking the large selection in and still pondering which pastry I’d try to tantalize my tastebuds with on this first experience of mine, I nicely said, “That’s ok, I know what I want to drink then.” And also followed with: “Everything looks sooo delicious!” No response from this one personality representing the entire front of house staff. About about 30 seconds more of careful consideration, I asked for something I had never tasted w/ a name I wasn’t familiar with. She wasn’t familiar either, but she wasn’t sorry or friendly about not knowing how to pronounce the name, even though I asked her jokingly...

I’m not sure if I just caught her on a bad day, but if it wasn’t for my decision to get the pastries to go and my lasting impression of this heavenly goodness etched with my memory, I may very well be turned off enough Not to give The Old Mill a second chance... I would love to come back, nonetheless, and I just hope this young girl has a better attitude on the...

This is the first time we come to Old Mill Cafe, after reading these good reviews we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately we werent that lucky. The girl in the cashier (taking the orders) was kinda rude, making faces, I really dont know if she was in a bad mood that day... The Sandwich I ordered was delicious, however it was over toasted. We also got a plain bagel with cream cheese and also the bread was over toested, almost burned. Maybe the toaster is messed up or they just forgot about having the food in the toaster... who knows. There are only a couple of tables inside, I guess this is due to covid. Coffee was "OK". Edit. I was recently here, the experience was way far different from our first impressions about this place. All employees were nice and smiling. There are more tables, enough I would say, they have also outdoor tables which is great unless is too cold or a rainy day. I had a veggie crepe, the ingredients are taste was delicious this has never been the complain, flavors here are great and unique, the problem is the time they leave the other stuff warming/cooking. The dough of my crepe was completely tosted, it was falling apart in small pieces after trying to cut it with the knife... anyways it was at the end good. Coffee was nice, good taste. The atmosphere of this place is great when there are only a couple or when people respects others by talking in a descent volume, but as always people seems like they are in the bar/night club or deaf, they yield or scream to each other, then the place turns to a really loudly place and unpleasant if you only want to be there for a calm cozy moment enjoying your food...

I biked the Trolley Number Nine trail. This was short and tough for beginners. I parked near the Oella end and rode around to westchester to begin the trail. That was my first mistake lol. That hill was HUGE before we even started the trail. We biked some of the hill but ultimately ended up walking it (thankfully because cars came around the sharp corner kind of fast). Once we got to the start of the trail, I was quickly beat! I figured the huge hill at westchester took me out plus it was so warm outside. I took several breaks on this short trail. I couldn’t figure out why I was so tired so quickly. The trail was paved and it had tons of shade. I almost turned around and thought maybe I over did it this time. I ended up pushing myself to make it to the end. It wasn’t until the end of the trail that I realized I was biking UPHILL the entire time! It finally clicked. The hard work to get to the top of this short but challenging trail ended in sweet reward as we coasted downhill the entire way back. The thrill of downhill was so exhilarating. The hard work uphill paid off 🙌🏾. Once we got back to the start, we walked over to Old Mill Cafe and grabbed some iced chai lattes and a breakfast sandwich.

I loved the breakfast bagel (I got a simple egg & cheese bagel). It was so delicious! The latte was just ok. It lacked the flavor I...

Shockingly quick service despite how busy it was when we came in. Very friendly clientele. They had two soups today, one of which was broccoli cheddar. It was nice and chunky. Served hot with deliciously crispy focaccia bread. Chicken salad sandwich is accented with cranberries, which is a nice touch for the winter season. Mine was served on perfectly toasted rye bread. Chips cost extra, Route 11 brand. Refreshing lemonade. Rich chai latte with soy milk. Finally, the Little Monkey crepe (peanut butter banana with honey and whip) had a light, crispy texture and a generous serving of whipped cream. There's also a counter to the side where you can buy books about local Ellicott City lore and some little handmade trinkets. Free water cups and Milk Bones for dogs. Reasonable prices. Parking lot is right around the corner. Be sure to grab one of the baked goods behind the glass to go! Pumpkin muffin and coffee cake are both delicious.
