Drinks: very good!
Food: pretty good (especially the buffalo chicken dip), however we were not told that all of the sides that came with our entrees would be replaced with potato chips
Service: disappointing I was there with a group of friends (7 of us) so understandably food would take a while to come out, but it truly was one plate or drink at a time and we had 10+ items ordered. During that, it was very loud inside and our waiter spoke quietly and served us a wrong drink so we asked to get the correct one and they agreed. As the food arrived, an order for a salmon bagel came and the waiter told us they ran out of salmon which is why this one was so skimpy and that it would be on the house, we were confused but appreciative! At the end of the night, we asked for the check and I asked for an itemized receipt, which the waiter said they didn’t know what that was. I explained and they still didn’t know how to give that to me. They left and came back and finally explained it will be sent to my email, perfect! Just before we leave, the friend who received the “on the house” bagel asked me to double check the receipt. Sure enough, I was charged for it! I walked up to the waitstaff and kindly explained the situation. They asked me how much it cost (I told them $12, which was not including tax and tip that I already paid on it) and then they mumbled to each other about cash from the register. They turn around and hand me a $10 bill and sit down. I felt like a fool waiting there for $2 but looked at my friends and they were also dumbfounded. I asked if they had the $2 thinking they might not have any $1 bills, and sure enough they reach into the register and pull it out and hand it to me. I mean really?? I was double-shortchanged by...
Read moreMy family and I are traveling to see friends who are new to the area. We thought it would be fun to support a small local business, so we went into Ellicott Distilling Co. I was at the back of the group with my medical alert service dog. I have my professionally trained service dog for epilepsy and diabetic alert and assistance. Upon our arrival, the owner of the establishment greeted my friends warmly and started to seat them. When he saw my service dog, he told us my dog was not welcome inside and needed to be outside at their seating area. I calmly tried to educate him on the ADA law and my rights, however, he kept interrupting me and continuously insisting I sit outside. The temperature was 97 degrees, so it was not safe to be seated outside, especially with a black labradoodle. More importantly, this would segregate me from the rest of the bar patrons. We ended up being forced to leave the establishment due to noncompliance with the ADA and the owner refusing to comply with my rights as a disabled person with a service dog. Being denied access to a public bar by the owner due to my disability was belittling and incredibly...
Read moreI took the vodka/gin distilling class at Ellicott Distilling Co. and had an amazing time. It was super chill, really informative, and just a lot of fun overall. You can tell Arkady, the owner, genuinely loves what he does; his energy was so infectious and made the class even more enjoyable. It felt like learning science from your cool, enthusiastic friend who happens to be really into spirits.
The space itself is small but cozy and welcoming, with a mix of distillery, bar, and restaurant vibes. We got to sample different spirits, hear some cool facts about the chemistry and history of distilling, and honestly, I didn’t want the morning to end. Everyone there, from Arkady to his wife and the other staff, was so kind and easy to talk to.
I’d 100% do it again and definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something fun and different to do...
