After much anticipation to try the little market cafe, I was sadly more disappointed than not. We went during the mardi gras weekend that old Ellicott City hosted and got a muffaletta and the crawfish mac and cheese with a log cabin latte and one bottled drink. The total came up to $33, they asked my name but didn't give me a receipt. My latte was called after about 7 - 8 minutes under what I heard has Tanya and it was written as Kania. I almost didn't get up because they didn't state what it was and obviously it wasn't my name. I enjoyed the latte, it was very yummy and if anything I would come back and get another while walking around. Then after 10 more minutes the crawfish mac comes out...no muffaletta in sight. After a couple more minutes we got up and asked when our sandwich would be ready they informed us that it never printed and they were getting right on it. After 5 more minutes or so we get our sandwich. Everyone else was already done eating so he quickly ate half of it. It was ALOT of olives, so it only tasted like olives to me. I only took a bite than decided against anymore. The crawfish mac and cheese was good... About the size of a large side at a regular restaurant. It was packed with crawfish so that made it worth it. It was a tad grainy from the topping but tasted good overall. I hear the sandwiches are really good, so it could have been been just getting the mardi gras menu. Overall, I know I'm not going to come back here unless I'm compelled and it's NOT winter, but maybe I'll try one of their sandwiches that gives them such a good name one day that will...
Read moreI've been here a few times and enjoy their food and coffee- notably the waffle hauz Sammy. They have a good selection of gluten free food and the staff is friendly.
My only complaint is that when live music is going on people are not prohibited from sitting at the tables for long periods of time even when they haven't ordered anything/ have been finished for quite some time. It's frustrating to arrive, order an entire meal and then have no where to sit because people are using tables just to listen to the music. The music is good! I get it! But literally the only place for us to sit was very very close to the band, and that close the noise was too much for my baby, who started crying pretty much immediately.
If the people at the tables in the main seating area were all eating I wouldn't be bothered, but at the handful of tables not a single group had more than a couple sips left in a single cup of ice coffee. Perhaps enforcing a time limit on the very limited seating area is something that could be done during the live music? I just wanted a place to sit with my baby and eat, but instead just felt out of place and unwelcome.
I'll be back, but will probably stay away on weekends and whenever I hear the sounds of music coming from...
Read moreThis review is not for the food but for the service. The food is great every time we go & I love that they’re so vegan accommodating, which makes me upset that their service is so bad. The last two times we’ve came here we experienced incredibly long wait times. This time was way beyond acceptable. I ordered online and when I arrived I immediately went to the counter and let them I was here, I then watched over the following 45 minutes as people who ordered in real time got their food and left. I ended up waiting almost an hour for two breakfast sandwiches. During that time I went up to the counter staff and asked about my order and they kept saying how busy they were, but I continued to see people being served who showed up even after I did. Great food though but unlikely we’ll get to eat it again because we’re not willing to carve out an hour for a breakfast sandwich.
Update: Joy cares deeply about her cafe and customers and very kindly reached out and provided a refund along with some context as to why the wait was so long. I will be going back, because I’m happy to support small businesses with integrity. I’m hopeful that the next time I go the wait...
