Not wheelchair welcoming in anyway. EDIT: I’m grateful for the prompt response below and changes in the website would be needed. Disabled people do not want to eat outside in the winter time as much as anyone else, and a table on the first floor not on a ledge would be a starting step. A manual chair could be lifted over the steps indoors - not a power chair. It takes a lot of work to come to restaurants with a disability and they are trusting you to give the information they need. Training for better service is appreciated and needed. Thank you for the action.
My mom and I had a nice dinner planned with my partner who is a wheelchair user. The site says on Google maps that they are wheelchair accessible in both entrance and seating. I called before coming to ensure this and the man on the phone told me “yes” and then hung up on me before I could ask any more details.
We got to the location to find two major steps into the location and that the table that he said was “wheelchair accessible” was in a tiny corner UP three steps. It was on a narrow ledge by a window - there no way whatsoever someone in a wheelchair could go up, even if they were carried. All the other seating is up a flight of stairs.
As we explained that is not at all wheelchair accessible, the employee shrugged. We asked if they would be willing to move the table down from the ledge and he said no immediately. The worker appeared bothered by us all while my partner was outside in the cold. We asked to speak to the manager who was there at the time to at least let him know that he cannot advertise this place as wheelchair accessible. He refused to come down and instead told us to go to another restaurant that also was not wheelchair accessible. Very poor service and we were tossed aside after being told on the phone that it was. I’m hoping that things change and the people here start caring for the disabled.
Once again - the site says wheelchair accessible and I called before to confirm. It’s one thing to not make your space accessible if you truly don’t want to (buildings here are old) - but DO NOT advertise it as such. It is hurtful...
Read moreI live near EC and I don’t usually write a review but Syriana cafe at Main Street EC need to STOP charging customers with hidden fees. For ordering a medium mocha of $4.29 on menu and paying $5.40? Really?! The lady said plus tax and there’s an upcharge. Tax for more than a dollar and for what?? For lying to people and being sneaky? I don’t mind spending $5.40 if that’s the REAL price but for goodness sake don’t take advantage of customers with hidden sneaky charges. Two ladies at the counter said they couldn’t just erased the price on menu that’s written on chalk. Caught ya! No signs of remorse just proud of their sneakiness. No signs of remorse and That is totally UNETHICAL. This story has been shared to multiple customers and owners of coffee shops. :) I’ve been a customer with friendly and HONEST old cafes in EC for years. You’re welcome and good luck to your business if this act makes you grow.
Hi- thanks for addressing this. it happened today 12/23 around 1pm. Two ladies at the counter will probably remember. My husband said to the cashier wearing a black eyeliner that it shouldn’t be that much and tax should not be that much and she probably computed it wrong. We repeated the order and she computed it 3x and said, “no, I’m right with the amount”. My husband and I took the card and decided to leave, canceled the order and went to different cafe. Not sure if this has happened before with anyone but please review your pricing and advertise what customers should pay plus appropriate tax. Thanks and happy holidays!- from customers...
Read moreSyriana Cafe and Gallery has a nice concept with Syrian art hanging throughout the space. Although the cashier and server were pleasant, my meal at Syriana Cafe and Gallery was disappointing. Everything tasted like it was store bought and heated up rather than freshly made. I ordered the chicken lunch. Instead of a chicken kabob, the server mistakenly brought out a chicken gyro and French fries. The meal was supposed to come with rice. The fries were lukewarm and stale-tasting. The server corrected the error by bringing out the rice. It was gummy and sticky, tasting like Uncle Ben's rice that had sat at the bottom of the pot. The rice had no taste and the texture was terrible. The chicken gyro also was not good. The bread seemed stale and store bought. The gyro did not have the typical shredded lettuce, tomatoes and onions. The chicken and strangely pickles were just wrapped in stale pita bread. I obtained a "to go" box, left the restaurant, and threw the box in the garbage. I have eaten Afghani, Greek and other types of gyros and rice which were flavorful and worth a second trip. Maybe the experience was not typical but I will not return to Syriana's for bland, stale food. I was looking forward to the meal but I was sorely...
