We've been here twice and have had the same waitress both times, Haili. The first time, she was super bubbly and nice until the end. Probably because the restaurant had JUST opened. By the end, she seemed irritated and short with us. The food was good but we were served 4 pieces of baby octopus instead of the proper amount of fried calamari. Tonight we went there, full of excitement and ready for good sushi. Instead we were put at the same tiny table with the same waitress and ended up leaving very unhappy. We asked to move so we had more space. We were able to move thankfully, the restaurant was very slow at the moment. Then we continued to order many different rolls to try. I asked for all my rolls to have cucumber added. We were asked if we wanted to do the happy hour 3 for $33 and we said no since a lot of ours were $10 for happy hour. We asked for LOTS of ginger and 2 large spicy mayos. We got a reg thing of ginger and after 45mins, and asking for it again, we were given 2 small spicy mayos. Our tempura was undercooked and ended up making us both sick. There was no cucumber in any of my rolls. When i asked about it, she said she was very sorry but she forgot to add it to the order. She brought me a bunch of sliced ones instead, which I thanked her for. Unfortunately they tasted old and not fresh AT ALLLLL. It took 15mins to get a refill on our drink and then she started having an attitude when we asked for more ginger. We then were rarely checked on and I had another lady come up to bring us more spicy mayo after trying to get Haili's attention. She was very kind! When we were finally checked on again, we asked for boxes, we had TONS of leftovers. We were both given 1 box which wouldn't hold it. We asked for another and were given smaller flimsy ones. She brought us our checks and then refused to come back, even though she made straight eye contact with me. When I saw the receipt, I was charged for the 3 for $33 instead of the $10. She said she'd given me a better deal but she could fix it if I wanted her to. I'm sorry, but I was charged $11 for each instead of $10. I kindly declined and handed her my card. She didn't offer us to put our number in for our points and she fake smiled and walked away. Then to top it off. She glared at my wife when she walked past her. The amount of rudeness and low quality food provided to us today was completely...
Read moreAte there on a Friday night. The nigiri was noticeably thinner than other sushi joints. The rolls were not tightly rolled, were unevenly cut, and my rainbow roll was topped with very thin slivers of fish. The server was somewhat responsive, but I had to ask for place settings (were only 2 at the table and 4 of us), had to ask for another edamame order, had to ask for more soy sauce as there was little in the clear bottle and we ran out. So she was attentive, but I had to raise my hand for service, she didn’t anticipate our needs. Ambiance was ok, but the light were super bright so it felt very clinical, I recommend they dim the lights a bit for a nicer atmosphere. Having numerous TVs is their choice, not my jam as I’m there to eat and socialize with friends, not watch sports while I eat. The booth we sat at was very well worn for a “new” location. The seats were not supportive and I would have been more comfortable on a hard bench than on saggy vinyl. The food did come out quickly and there were no errors, kudos to the ordering / fulfilling order process. Cost us $200+ for 7 rolls, 1 order of nigiri, 2 orders of edamame, a beer, 2 kid’s lemonades, and one order of gyoza. There is better sushi within a 25 min drive, I won’t be returning...
Read moreI was surprisingly...... underwhelmed. I've come to expect great things from Trappers and this one didn't hit the mark. Knowing it's a new location, new staff, etc, I have given some grace.
The food was a little disappointing. The rice was overcooked, almost paste-like. The sauces seemed poorly mixed. The STP was so spicy you couldn't taste anything else. I tried all my go-to rolls and was disappointed in all of them.
The service and atmosphere go together. The sound was so loud and walls echoed enough that the chef sitting directly in front of me couldn't hear my order (or was ignoring me). Wait staff were at the end of the bar staring at their phones with a full house. We were on-site for almost two hours, and my drink got refilled one time.
This is not indicative of a Trappers location... at least not one that I know Trapper and his brothers would be proud of. I fear the chain is becoming too corporate and not the family/friend business it once was. I will continue to be a patron, but not sure I'll go back to this location. Sorry, but this one...
