Almost 5 stars. Just don't try to tell me there is better Thai food in town! Ok, maybe the stand by Hifi has a punkin curry that rivals, but this place has gone from being good to excellent in the last 3 years. I suggest the Pad Thai with tofu and chicken mix or the Salmon Panang Curry. I'm used to being dissatisfied with heat levels when I order Thai and places assume I don't mean spicy when I do. Watch out honestly they are true to their word and Thai Hot means it is hot. I get just the regular hot. It's plenty hot! Once in awhile I get the Thai hot but it's just soooooo hot flavors aren't as accessible. Let's talk about the Pad Thai a minute. Fresh noodles and perfect umami. I pay extra for the protein mix to get a little more protein. Then add the peanut sauce which is the best in town (Mali on Valley River close second). The Salmon Curry is capital G generous with salmon and the broth is divine. Don't confuse it with the seafood curry which is good but not what I'm talking about. They have a mimosa cocktail with popping Boba that is soooooo good. I wish they could package one up for take out but alas we'll probably have to wait until the pandemic shifts to herd immunity, etc. Why 4 stars? Why not 5? Very very occasionally the black Boba in the bubble tea is not fresh, and getting take out means double checking because small items like a sauce on the side or napkins are forgotten 1 out of 5 times. Not bad ratio but always do check. Its likely because they are so busy because it's so good. Oh and forget about calling and getting through on a phone. I've gotten an answer maybe once out of many attempts. This isn't just one of my favorite restaurants here. It is the best Thai around Eugene and just an all around great place with...

But today was different. My mom had complained about how our soup was missing many ingredients and not tasting like the usual Tom Yum soup. That’s when we were made aware that they have new people being trained in the kitchen and that the manager was not the one who made our food today. Which is fine, we’re completely understanding that there are trainees in the kitchen. The problem was AFTER the waitress went back to the chef to report the feedback , all we could hear is loud obnoxious laughing and talking in their language. My mother said she saw the chef peek over the counter at us ( we were the last ones in the restaurant) and then go back to laughing out loud.. it was honestly really hurtful to see that behavior as we eat here often and we NEVER had any issues with the chefs and staffs like this before, As the staffs have always been so wonderful.
But besides today, We’ve always loved eating here and the staff is so friendly and food was always so delicious. We are hoping that if we do come back next time, this won’t happen again all because we complained about the food not tasting the way it...

Yo, I’m a 33-year-old stoner from Alaska, and lemme just say—Chao Pra Ya is straight-up elite. First time I wandered in, I was high, hungry, and just looking for something to blow my mind. Not only did the food deliver, but the vibe in this place was instantly comforting. Warm lighting, chill music, and this kind of peaceful, lowkey energy that made me feel right at home.
The staff? Super friendly, not judgy at all, which I appreciate when I’m a little extra relaxed. They got me seated fast, helped with recommendations (shoutout to whoever put me on the garlic crispy chicken), and my food came out quick—even during the dinner rush. That’s rare and super clutch when the munchies hit hard.
I’ve been back a few times now and it’s consistently fire. Pad Thai slaps. Green curry is creamy, spicy perfection. Everything tastes fresh, like someone’s Thai auntie is back there throwing down with love. Plus, the portions are generous—I always end up with leftovers and they reheat like a dream.
If you’re looking for a spot that serves up good energy and bomb food without the wait, Chao Pra Ya is it. I’ll keep coming back ‘til they...
