I usually don’t like to write negative reviews but this place was once one of my faves. My only complaint was the food would come out cold. The manager was very nice and replaced it, but the last time we were there, the lady taking the order didn’t fully understand what we ordered but she finally did and got everything down that we wanted. We usually dine in but I got it to go after I got off of work. Got all the way home and they didn’t put my carne asada torta in. I did pay for it by the way. I called and they were resistant at first and I told them I had just been there. They reluctantly said I could come and get it, in a rude kind of way. I picked it up and there was no real apology from the manager but the lady I ordered from said she was sorry. Mind you, this particular manager was very accommodating before, well, not this time. Got home and it was Al pastor not carne asada. I called once again and was told that the cook said that it was and they use the same seasonings as the Al pastor. Well, I’m sorry but we ordered a frito quesadillas and it was exactly the same meat, and I’ve had the carne before, not the same. So no admission on their part there. After all the hassle and the sub par customer service, this place we raved about is off our list of go to’s. Too bad. You had so much potential. I am going to miss your fresh juices but not enough to come back. Get it together. So...
Read moreFLAVORFUL! Fresh! Sensibly priced. I'll give a lot of context on why I feel so strongly to review this way.. I have a wife that has spent a lot of time outside the US, and a frequent complaint I hear is "Food from [x] restaurant was not fresh, seemed too expensive/portions seemed off". As someone who has been almost in the US their whole life, I still agree with her on most places when she says those things, I just usually resign to "Well I don't know of anything better thats not absurdly expensive."
We tried three barbacoa tacos, and I requested a quesiburrito with al pastor as the protein. She instantly gave it a "Wow, thats nice!" with us both agreeing that everything inside and out tasted fresh, the portions were perfect for the price and for our appetite, and they had plenty of variety to make us want to come back and try more. I also tried the habanero salsa, and as someone whos extremely picky about spice, it had a very satisfying level of hotness (similar to thai spices that I like), and had a pleasant flavor.
We also got pastries next door at their meat market (unexpected find for us) and you shouldn't sleep on those either if you've liked what you hear down this far.
Its fantastic. If this place ever shuts down I'm going to be broken up about losing this taqueria more-so than I was when attending...
Read moreThis was my first visit to El Rancho. The place is attached to a Mexican meat market and as such I expected the food to be authentic and delicious. I was not disappointed. Upon walking up we were greeted by a woman outdoors furiously scrubbing the outdoor tables with a scrub brush and disinfectant. The indoor dining area was just as clean, and shockingly, completely empty of customers. The menu is simple and fairly priced. I ordered a carne asada combo plate for 12.99, which was a bargain considering the plate was larger than my head. The steak was cooked to perfection, charred on the outside and moist inside. The beans and rice were also very good, garnished with a grilled onion and chile. Everything tasted freshly prepared. The meal was served with four steaming hot corn tortillas and several choices of salsa. Topped it off with a Sol and was perfectly satisfied. My only gripe: plastic flatware made cutting the carne asada a laborious task, but I'm up for the challenge, it's well...
