This is at the Valley River Center Mall location in Eugene, Oregon. I've been to other Panda Expresses and they always have plenty of food ready to go and be served. Seems like every time I go to this location in the mall, most of the pans are empty of food and it'll be 10 to 15 minutes for more food to come out. So I get noodles that are mostly gone but have a ton of onions instead. Yuck. Then the bowl isn't even full.
Other locations I've been to, when a pan like the noodles or orange chicken, etc. get about a quarter/halfway empty, they yell for more noodles, chicken, etc. to be made and they come out before the pan is empty.
But this Valley River Center Mall location constantly runs out of noodles, chicken, etc. and then you have to wait for it to be made. Not sure who's running this place but I think I'll start going to a different restaurant in the mall.
Approximately 2 weeks ago, I ordered a medium drink to go with my order, and I was told the ice machine was broken and that they didn't have any ice. This is about the third or fourth time I've been told this. So I said give me a coke without ice. I sit down and take a drink of it and it takes like soap water. I don't know if the machine was cleaned with soap and not rinsed out or what. But it went straight into the garbage and I went to Subway and got a drink there instead. My friend, who was with me, thought I was exaggerating what the Coke tasted like. So he took a drink and almost spit it out. And again my bowl was mostly onions with a few noodles and I had to wait for the orange chicken to be cooked.
Until something changes with this location which seems to be ran by teenagers since I've never seen anyone who resembles an adult there, I will go elsewhere in the mall to eat.
However, I will continue to go to the other Panda Express locations because they know what they're doing but this place obviously needs a new manager.
This has been going on for quite a while now. I thought it was time to say something about it. I'll be posting this on Google reviews as well.
Thank you for your time. And the orange chicken and noodles are really really good when they're actually available for me to get or my friend who...
Read moreI usually love Panda Express. Specifically because I know they temp food and are serving fresh. Yesterday I ate at the Valley River Center location. I shared a spring roll with my 10 month old around 1 pm. About 9 pm I started feeling awful. Which led to the wonderful side effects of food poisoning. About an hour into my side effects my baby also started vomiting. Luckily he had only eaten a small amount so he wasn’t as bad off as myself. However, my reason for the one star review is because when I just called in to let them know I was pretty sure it came from their food the girl on the phone acted like I had no idea what I was talking about and told me how they make everything fresh. I’m completely aware of this, I actually stated that I was aware they temp food and that was the reason I was calling. Again it’s why I enjoy eating at this chain. But her attitude killed it for me and I will never be returning. I understand food poisoning is somewhat hard to pinpoint, however it’s pretty clear to me where it came from and even if it wasn’t a little empathy and sincerity would have gone a long way. I am very knowledgeable in food preparation and safety (rocking into my sixteenth year in food service and serving as a safety committee for many of my jobs) so for her to act like I was crazy and she didn’t care is just ridiculous to me. The attitude alone is what sparked this review. A little empathy goes a long way. I know we are all tired and over worked in these weird times. But this situation was handled terribly. Literally my point of calling was so management could find out who is not doing their job and letting them know that THIS exact situation is why it’s an important...
Read moreMe and my husband only eat out once every 4-6 weeks. It’s a splurge for us. The last 3 times we’ve gotten food at this location they have shorted one of us on the teriyaki chicken. I’ve never complained since mistakes happen and they always seem busy. This time we went in and stood at the counter to order. The lady working ignored us for awhile. Then someone came up behind us and she asked him if he’d been helped and helped him. I was shocked. But I waited patiently. Then she asked my husband what he wanted and he ordered a plate. She walked away before taking my order and filled several online orders while I waited. There was no one else behind me so it wasn’t super busy. She finally came back to us and asked if we wanted something else. She snapped and was quite rude. I told her yes, I’d also like to eat and would like a plate please. She gave the correct amount of chow mein and orange chicken and only gave half the teriyaki chicken. This is the 3rd time one of us has gotten shorted by an entire chicken thigh. It’s supposed to come with 2 and I received one. The online orders she filled before me had two and my husband got two. But I only got one. I’m not sure if they do this to control profits since it seems to happen often. But if I’m paying full price for a meal I would like to receive the entire meal I’m paying for. I would have just taken the food I got shorted on and not complained for the 3rd time except the rest of the experience was horrible as well. She ignored us, helped the person behind us before us, left us waiting when it wasn’t needed since it wasn’t busy, snapped at us because apparently she didn’t think we both wanted to eat, and then shorted...
