mediocre at best... this is the perfect spot if you want mediocre to below-average sushi quality with mediocre recipes served in trashy disposable plastic bowls. They expect you to be okay with just getting your water from a office cooler style water dispenser next to the register with your paper cup. And they have the audacity to ask for tips on the freaking payment screen. The interior is, to be frank, just ratty. I would expect a whole lot more from a high-rated sushi place in the middle of the frickin' city. It's basically a food cart experience inside of a building. But i have had much better food quality from plenty of trucks. The miso soup was extremely disappointing. I didn't know it was possible to make a miso soup lacking in flavor. Like, literally, the main ingredient is miso. How do you make it flavorless? It doesn't make sense. It seems like the sushi fish was of decent enough quality, but that doesn't rescue their mediocre recipes and execution of them. The Smoked Philly Roll, which is composed of smoked salmon, cream cheese, and avocado, basically tastes just entirely of cream cheese. The smoked salmon flavor is practically non-existent. The glowing reviews for this place are honestly suspicious. Either those people have never had genuinely good sushi in their lives, or were asked to write a positive review for compensation. I'm not trying to make any accusations, but those are the only two options. Nobody would actually write a five-star review for this place if they've had actual five-star sushi, which in the Pacific Northwest is not that hard to come across. We have one of the best sushi scenes in the entire country, and I can't believe this is one of the highest rated places in Eugene. It...

Of the various rolls we had there was absolutely an elevated level of care and balance to the dishes. Like I've had a dragon roll plenty of times in my life, but never one that manages to really balance out each flavor and texture in a way that makes it Better.
We ended up being the only people dining in in the late evening, but to-go orders were flying off the counter. Our food still came out promptly and the woman taking our order and serving was incredibly warm and friendly.
I actually dig the somewhat stark atmosphere. It's more of a hole-in-the-wall with bangin' food kinda vibe. They don't seem to be trying to play up the place like it's...

Counter ordering felt overwhelming at first because their menu is extensive, but the person working was patient and polite. Reading back the order was a nice touch on their part.
Handful of bare bones tables and chairs were utilitarian like comfort while we waited for our food. Sushi itself was pretty good. Fish was relatively fresh, veggies were definitely fresh and, and miso soup was standard for most places. Ginger was slightly frozen which we found odd, but not disconcerting.
Have we had better sushi before, yes, but for the speed, price, and city we were visiting, this place...
