Went here for the first time for a drag show and had a thoroughly bad experience with the bartenders and staff. Bartenders are ¡extremely! slow & serve whom they please. I stood in line and got skipped 5+ times, along with another sweet gentleman next to me. After it kept happening, we decided to say something.. politely we explained we had gotten skipped many times and that several other guests that just walked up were served immediately. Both female bartenders set down everything they were doing to scold us: we can serve who we please, you don't tell us. Etc. At that point I walked away. Several other guests there that night had awful experiences as well. We stayed for the show only because friends were performing and left promptly after, otherwise, we would have left immediately. Another friend had enough and left in the middle of the show because of the bartenders. I had to send my boyfriend up to get my drinks for me. They were sweet to him and served him our drinks no problem! Hmm..... I've been in the server/bartender industry for 10 years so I understand it can be overwhelming and stressful and usually I relate to the server in most instances, but they were blatantly ignoring/rude to multiple guests. During an event... not a good way to treat your guests.. or make money. Also, the owner/manager? was right there, was aware of some of the issues, and never addressed them. Definitely won't be going back there. Save yourself the wasted time standing in line to never get served and an...
Read moreI have never felt more unwelcome or unwanted in an establishment in my entire life.
First bartender I spoke to was very nice and I had a very routine experience as I do in any bar, love that, love her, no big deal. However the second time around I was helped by a male bartender, he came in hot, very abrasive, and if he was "trying to be funny" it didn't feel like it. He rudely asked me what I wanted, I miss-spoke and ordered the wrong kind of whiskey. My guess was I was already on edge from how I was greeted and that's what caused me to say the wrong thing.
The bartender barely made a quarter turn towards the shelf and I said "I'm sorry, I meant to say X instead of X." the bar tender stopped what he was doing and continued to berate me "IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?!? ARE YOU SURE THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT?!?" I have NEVER felt like this in a bar in my ENTIRE life.
I went on with my life and came back to the Barn Light in the evening hoping that he would either be gone or maybe his attitude had change. NOPE same hot headed guy giving me the exact same treatment. It got to the point that I was asking friends to order for me so I would not have to interact with this person again.
From what I understand this male bartender might be an owner?? If that's true, I feel this person is in the wrong business if that's how they react under the pressure of being mildly busy.
I am not normally the person to write a google review, but I felt so disrespected and that's what compelled me to take this issue a...
Read moreSeveral of the bartenders here are far and beyond exempt from any reproach… outside of Laurel, who’s bad attitude has soured many a night at this bar for many individuals, both in front of and behind the bar. The owner is beyond clueless, extremely rude and incompetent as someone who is dipping his toe in the hospitality industry. I feel sorry for the staff that are still trying to hold it together here and will absolutely hope they find better and more quality employment at literally any other establishment soon. Edit: the member of our party did not refuse to wear a mask as was implied by the owners response. We were all wearing masks and complied with the directives given. The bartender that was harassing the member of our party (The one mentioned above) was creating a problem where there was not one, and you yourself said that you were not there to see what had occurred, that you were just backing up your employees side of the story sight unseen. And while I support an owner supporting their staff, there are two sides to everything and when I tried to respectfully explain and resolve the issue with you later, privately, you interrupted me several times to reiterate, and I quote “I don’t care”. You said this several times, before then just walking away from me. I have never in my 10+ years of hospitality met an owner so incompetent at conflict resolution, or care so little about their customers and their experience. I take comfort knowing you won’t last long if you...
