Los Bagels - Eureka, CA
Look, I wanted to like Los Bagels. I really did. Local joint, funky vibe, supposed community charm—check, check, and whatever. But the reality? It’s more like a crusty hipster shrine where overpriced mediocrity gets dressed up in avocado and self-importance.
Let’s talk bagels. If you’re gonna name your business after 'em, they better be bangers, right? Nope. These are barely passable—dry, flat, and lacking that chewy, satisfying bite that makes a real bagel worth carb-loading for. And don’t even get me started on the toppings. A schmear shouldn’t require a second mortgage, but here it feels like you’re being charged by the syllable. Wanna add lox? Hope you're cool with paying artisan prices for subpar slices.
The whole place reeks of Gen Z posch—kale vibes and moral superiority with every bite. Half the time I feel like I’m interrupting someone’s Instagram story just by ordering coffee. Speaking of which—yeah, the coffee sucks. Watery, burnt, and somehow still pretentious. It’s like a Starbucks employee had an identity crisis mid-pour.
Bottom line? Los Bagels is the kind of place that makes you miss greasy diners and boiled bagels that actually knew what they were doing. If you’re after authenticity and value, keep walking. But hey, if you want to spend $15 on a "world peace" bagel with a shot of condescension—this...
Read moreOn January 23rd at noon I was introducing a friend to LB for the first time. I spoke of the cafe’s charm etc, however the staff was extremely rude and unfriendly, specifically 2 Caucasian girls. The shorter of the 2 was so rude we almost left. I was so embarrassed in front of my friend. Employees should be trained to greet patrons and to be attentive. We were not told about the self pour coffee. We were only given a paper cup. My friend was unsure of the protocol. After we sat I got up twice and I asked for my friend’s coffee but was totally ignored. The employee could’ve simply pointed to the coffee and said that it was self service but she looked at me and said nothing, although I asked in an appropriate moment of her attending to a customer, so I sat back down. The third time I asked I was directed by a male employee to the coffee station. We were made to feel that we were inconveniencing the employees. When our food was yelled out it sounded like the person was mad and annoyed, again embarrassing. Although I’ve been a patron since ‘84 and I like the food and ambiance I don’t think I’ll be going into the Eureka location anytime soon. This isn’t the first time eureka employees at LB have been grossly rude. Bad for business especially during a...
