Living the Dream Ice Cream is one of those rare little gems that makes you want to come back again and again. Tucked next to the boardwalk in Eurekaâs Old Town district, this small-batch gelato shop is a must-visit if youâre exploring the area or just need a sweet escape.
The vibe is fun and friendly from the moment you walk in. The shop is cozy but full of personality, with a rotating menu of unique and mouthwatering gelato flavors that make it hard to choose just one. Thankfully, they offer flightsâa sampler of several flavorsâwhich is perfect for indecisive folks or anyone who wants to try something new. From classics like pistachio and dark chocolate to adventurous seasonal creations like blackberry basil or lemon lavender, thereâs always something fresh and exciting on the menu.
Beyond the gelato, they also serve other goodies and special treats that are perfect for kids and adults alike. The quality of ingredients is noticeable, and you can tell the owners put real thought into every detail. Even the texture of the gelato is spot on: smooth, rich, and never icy.
Another bonus is the location. You can take your treat and stroll along the boardwalk just steps away, where youâll find beautiful views of Humboldt Bay and a charming mix of shops and galleries nearby.
Living the Dream lives up to its nameâitâs joyful, delicious, and exactly the kind of place you want to support. Whether youâre a local or just passing through, donât skip it. Go for the gelato flight, savor every bite, and enjoy one of the sweetest spots...
Read moreI always wanted to try their ice cream as the line during the weekends is pretty long. Finally, we were in Eureka during a week day and there were only couple of customers ahead of us. A family in front of us requested a sample and was given one. When it was our turn, I also asked to sample one flavor, but, unfortunately, I was told that they are not providing samples at this moment. It was annoying because i was right there when a customer in front of me requested one. And the lady behind the counter was aware of that. I ordered a milkshake. The lady went to grab ice cream to put in a cup, but somehow it slipped out of her hands and landed on the counter, she leaned towards the counter to make sure it doesnât land on the floor. That scoop of ice cream ended up being on the counter and touching her apron. She scooped it right into the cup and went to the machine to make a milkshake. When that milkshake was handed to me, it was covered with milk and overflowing. I was fine with that whole fiasco about the scoop, but her first comment of not letting me sample it and that on top, made my experience not as smooth and nice as I...
Read moreIf you're looking for real ice cream that's not good for you (and actually tastes like ice cream) This place is not for you. Got a strawberry shake (for just under $7, mind you.) and the whole thing tastes like foamy milk. Not even a hint of strawberry to be found. You can get much better shakes for way less... literally anywhere else.
I understand the gelato and dairy free appeals to people and im not trying to bash the business here but I got a regular strawberry that wasn't marked dairy free or gelato and it didn't taste anything like ice cream... or strawberries.
Feel free to try it yourself but if you're like me who was looking for something that isn't healthy for you, this is not the place for you.
Again, $6.65 for foamy milk. No thank you.
Edit: although my mother seems to like it and in her words it because it's "not too sweet".
Again, I understand other people like this and I ask you to try it for yourself. but, if your like me and you're looking for something strong... this probably isn't the...
