Update - well, nothing to update. Delicious and wonderful experience as always. I had the Bento Sashimi Box this time. So much food! And yep we had the butter cake. #ChefsKiss !! Excellent as always- and I'll get to the dessert in a minute. We had the vegan spring rolls, my husband had the chef's choice sashimi with house salad and I had the organic teriyaki tofu dinner with house salad - the citrus dressing is to die for! Then we ordered dessert. David ordered the tiramisu and I ordered the butter cake - thinking I would get a slice of sponge or pound type cake. Oh no.... no no no. It was a little plate of pure heaven. A little round sponge type cake DIPPED IN TEMPURA AND DEEP FRIED, 2 small scoops of ice cream, and drizzled with fresh raspberry sauce. I'll go again just for dessert!! We sat near the back and got to watch and listen to the teppanyaki antics which is fun. Seating on the other end of the restaurant is definitely quieter but we weren't picky. Rock on Bayfront One!!

We really enjoy the restaurant here, and go at least once a year. I didn't really discover this place for the longest time because the name (Bayfront One) didn't really jump out and say "sushi" to me. The outside of the building also gives no real indication that there is a restaurant inside, much less a Japanese/Sushi themed restaurant. I've been by the restaurant many times, but it wasn't until a friend of mine told me it was a sushi restaurant (a good one at that) before I investigated it. So far, it's my favorite sushi restaurant in the Eureka/Arcata/McKinleyville greater area. Fresh fish, excellent selection of sake and other beverages, and the wait staff is always friendly and very accommodating. We've never had a bad dish at the restaurant... from the fried rice and other cooked items, to the sushi rolls and sashimi. Best restaurant of its kind in the area, even if no one would ever know due to the poor marketing of the restaurant.

We entered to find a very quiet (only a few tables occupied) dining room. Alex (who became our waiter) greeted us with a smile and sat us at a window overlooking the boardwalk / harbor area (very nice)... 👍 We were looking for fresh fish. However, Alex turned us on to some house favorites: We shared clam chowder - vegan spring rolls - spinach salad - tri tip teriyaki w / tempura fried veggies All were very fresh and delicious! Alex was entertaining, knowledgeable & kept the dining experience light and very enjoyable... Note: The restaurant has at least 4 entrances. However, only one of them was open. We had to check 3 locked doors before finding the right one (the signage was confusing). It was very irritating, and we observed at least 2 groups who walked away. ** to the owners / operators of Bayfront You have a very nice place but please fix the door entrance debacle.

Let me start. I meant to give it a NO star :) Or lets say, if their was such thing as negative stars, it'd be negative infinity stars.

As high-spirited customers who loves to enjoy ourselves, I walked with a positive attitude with my cousin. The first thing we get when we walked in, was a waitress who didn't look enthusiastic. She didn't even smile or say, "Welcome to Bayfront.". She sat us at our table, and gave us our menus. Because of our personalities, we were trying to have fun, we were normal girls enjoying ourselves. After our food came, we asked if we could open the window since it was blazing inside the restaurant. The waitress said, "No, that is not allowed." I mean, it was like 400 degrees in there, they could have at least but the air conditioner on. After we ate our food, we received a check of an 18% gratitude on the check. We only had two people!!! 18% gratitude is ONLY APPLIED WHEN there is a PARTY OF 8 PEOPLE! They tried to rip us off! We nicely consulted with the employees, and they graciously took out the gratitude of 18%. If we hadn't have read the check carefully, we could have paid 18% gratitude without knowing. We paid our check with the correct amount, and then asked if we wanted our change back. And we said, "Sure." Which was 2 cents... She gave me 2 cents, but she roughly shoved in my hand, which was very unfriendly, I felt insulted, in a way I thought it was an accident. We went back to the table to grab our things, I remember I left the two cents on the table, and then forgot to grab it and left. As we left out the front doors, one of the waitresses ran behind us, and shouted for us, "You forgot your change!" we nicely said thank you, and received the 2 cents. And out of nowhere, she screams, "NEVER COME BACK AGAIN, WE DON'T WANT TO SERVE YOU GUYS ANYMORE!" I asked, "What did we do?" She repeatedly kept shouting, "NEVER COME BACK AGAIN!" This was humiliating, I'm sure all the people in the restaurant could hear it. I repeatedly said, "Okay, okay." and left.

We're sorry if we had disturbed anyone, but I don't think we did. Everyone was minding their own businesses, and if they were to tell us keep quiet, we would have kept quiet. If they can't control their own restaurant, I'm sorry, but I don't think their business could last any longer.

Out of all the restaurants we have went to with our personalities, we have never experienced such a traumatic service. We have never been banned from a restaurant before, this is the first. The food was lovely, as for the service, they need improvement.

Thank you, and if you're searching for a great Japanese restaurant with good service, don't go...

Bayfront in Eureka is one of the most impressive dining spots in town because it brings together everything you could want in a memorable meal. The setting is stunning, sitting right on Humboldt Bay with wide open views that make every table feel special. From the windows or the patio you can watch the boats in the marina, the fog drifting over the water, and the sun setting behind Old Town. It is the kind of view that makes you slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment before your food even arrives.

The food here is a perfect blend of Japanese and Thai cooking with a strong focus on fresh seafood. The sushi is outstanding, with rolls that are colorful, inventive, and generously filled with fresh fish. The sashimi is sliced perfectly and presented beautifully, showing off the quality of the ingredients. Even simple dishes like miso soup and tempura are done with care, always hot, crisp, and flavorful. On the Thai side, the curries are rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying, and the pad thai is a favorite with noodles cooked just right and layers of flavor that keep you coming back for more. It is rare to find a restaurant that delivers this level of quality across two cuisines, but Bayfront manages to make both sides of the menu shine.

The drinks complete the experience. Their sake list is excellent and pairs wonderfully with sushi, and they also offer a range of cocktails that are fresh, balanced, and creative. A glass of sake or a well made cocktail alongside sushi while looking out at the bay is one of those experiences that feels uniquely Eureka, tying together food, drink, and scenery in the best way possible.

Service at Bayfront is always top notch. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being forced, and knowledgeable about the menu. They are quick to recommend the best pairings and keep the atmosphere relaxed while making sure you never feel forgotten.

What makes Bayfront special to me is how complete the experience feels. The location is breathtaking, the food is consistently excellent, the drinks are well made, and the service makes you feel cared for. Whether I have come here for a quiet dinner, a celebration, or just because I wanted great sushi, it has always felt like an occasion.

Bayfront is one of the restaurants that shows the very best of Eureka. It combines the beauty of the waterfront with food that is thoughtful, flavorful, and fresh, and it does so in a way that makes every visit feel special. It is a place I always recommend because it never disappoints and always reminds me of how much this city...

100% best dining in the area. Lauren was our server, she was so very kind, professional, attentive, well-dressed, and definitely deserves a major shout out. The restaurant is beautiful, modern mariner atmosphere, clean and elegant. The location is great! Overlooking the bay, views of the docks, the island, and ocean. The food was outstanding, I got 2 California rolls and the teriyaki grilled chicken lunch, first was a salad with dressing that I have to believe is housemade, sweet, savory, mustard and sesame. A simple Japanese style salad, greens, cucumber, tomato, and shredded cabbage and carrots. The California rolls were made with the utmost care, tightly rolled, fresh ingredients, phenomenal especially considering I just ordered basic California rolls. The chicken, thin and tender (keeping it tender is the hardest thing to do when a cut is thin and cooked hot and fast so props to the chef!) Grilled and lightly charred, a thick sweet teriyaki glaze over a bed of fresh thinkly sliced cabbage, the side options are fried rice which was amazing, I got steamed white rice, my fried sample was courtesy of my guest, it was fresh made and fantastic. The meal, the atmosphere, and again the service... I can't stress enough what great service we had. Lauren was perfect. What's more, she was also handling a table of 5 with the worst behaved toddler I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. This kid literally ran laps around the table while screaming "running running running" the parents told him to sit he would sit and go back to it, over and over. Were I in Lauren's position, I'd have lost my patience. She kept her composure, served us all promptly and kindly, truly this person deserves a medal. Thank you for your fantastic service Lauren, and everyone there. We...
