West Town Bakery — Restaurant in Evanston Township

I am so appalled at the experience I just had as west town bakery in Evanston. Now granted I was there for a goodtogo bag which is discounted items that they didn’t sell before the bakery closed. I walked in and was greeted which was great and then it went down from there. There were two brown paper bags at the end of them counter so I thought one was mine. The server asked me about my order, picked one up and then proceeded to walk towards the other end of the counter and take items out of the bag. I was floored and asked him what he was doing. I get that you can’t choose the items or quantities, however, they advertise it was $15 worth of items and he gave me two donuts with sprinkles that I know don’t cost $7.50 a piece because he proceeded to tell me he gave me two items like he was doing me a favor for $5. It was such a bait and switch and so disappointing because I love the west town in downtown Chicago. I could have gone to Dublin donuts which was much closer if I would have known they would only give me two donuts with sprinkles. I couldn’t find a contact us on the website anywhere to share my concerns which is also disappointing. It’s safe to say you live and you learn. Never...

I have been here a few times and havent had any issues with food or staff but recently went and an african american woman who was working the front counter was so horrendously rude, I'm not sure I'd be willing to come back to either of their businesses.

she was unfriendly, nasty when questions were asked of her (about dietary/allergy questions at that!!!)... and made my breakfast wrong. when I pointed it out, for some strange reason, she admitted she made it wrong and then ASKED me if i wanted her to fix it 🤯 and then scoffed while she did. my friend said she liked her sandwich, hence the two stars for food.

most folks here have been amazing but it only takes one and I'm not sure it's worth it to be...

anytime I’ve come here on separate times and different days I noticed it’s never actually busy here, example, there’s Lots of seating but I figured it’s probably cuz it’s kinda drowned out by loud ass remixed radio songs and $16 sandwiches. And the damn air conditioning is BLASTING. It hasn’t even been that warm out.

the atmosphere could be a bit more warm if they didn’t have a Big Sign in their window about offering cops Free coffee. What a weird spin in This political climate. Like ..The spiel is a cool thing and all but it doesn’t really FEEL like it’s part of any community. Think this is my last time...
