I joke that TikTok gets a bit too close to home and this is one example. The owner’s vid popped up in my feed of him trying to go to his kids soccer matches while also having to finish baking and doing deliveries for his business. It was wholesome, and little did I know it was just north of Seattle in Everett.
Admittedly, I’ve never said “let’s go to Everett” for anything and just the pure simplicity, wholesomeness was all I needed to make the trip.
I headed north, turned into the plaza and entered the bake shop. It’s easy to miss as it’s tucked away in the corner between a jewelry story and a pho restaurant. It’s not the typical fancy bakery with all the bells and whistles but more like a large commercial kitchen with a counter to purchase stuff.
I grabbed some freshly baked pita, lahamacun and a biscoff croissant.
All freshly prepped (within 5 mins), apart from the croissant, and all very delicious. I’m excited to see businesses like these thrive and now I have a spot to go to whenever I’m in Everett.
I did not grab pics but the website of the goods don’t lie. It’s all as pictured with reasonable prices. 10/10...
Read moreI have to say, this is the best baklava I’ve ever had—though I’ll admit, I’m no expert. Based on the few samples I’ve tried in the States, this one stands out as my favorite. It’s far from one-dimensional; there’s a beautiful balance of texture, layered flavor, and just the right touch of sweetness. The croissant, too, was impressive—crisp on the outside, chewy within, and perfectly complemented by the pistachio cream.
Note on my rating scale: Sharing this for transparency, as I recognize that a 3-star review may be misinterpreted as reflecting a mediocre experience. 5 stars – Exceptional: Outstanding food, service, and/or overall experience. Truly worth going out of your way for. (For example, we frequently make the drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.) 4 stars – Very Good: Exceeds expectations in quality, service, or ambiance. 3 stars – Good: A solid experience that meets expectations. I consider any place with 3 stars or above worthy of a return visit. 2 stars – Disappointing: Falls short in food quality or service. 1 star – Poor: Not...
Read moreEvery so often, we come across a restaurant, cafe, or bakery that has something so delicious and special that we declare ourselves soon-to-be-regulars right on the spot. It recently happened in Everett, WA. Yes, it's Alida's Bakery. What will lure us back again and again? The Samoon Pita Bread is absolutely delicious. Baked fresh daily, it smells divine, looks inviting with it's rounded-diamond shape, has a delightful chewiness, and tastes fantastic. It is an experience that should not be missed. We have never eaten pita bread that is anywhere near as wonderful as that at Alida's Bakery. What other delights beckon us? The Baklava, a sweet, delicate, and beautifully flaky dessert, and the Kanafa, with just the right balance of rose water, are yummy. On our next visit, we look forward to trying the Manakish and the Klecha cookies. I've no doubt they will be as scrumptious as their other items. Last but not least, the owner and staff are lovely people, who give a warm welcome and are happy to answer questions....
