Nine months ago I gave this 5 stars and it still is. Test pilot small batch beers are fantastic forays into what a brewer can do without having to experiment with a few hundred gallons. Last week was a beer using Sabro and Azacca hops the started wet, finished dry, and tasted fantastic. My guess is azacca dry hopped? A combination of citrus/tropical coconut that is different but understandable as Sabro is a hybrid hops from Yakima only out since April. This week is a black cherry champagne ale. To me more than champagne than black cherry and lively. Hmm.....what evil science is in the barrel...
Read moreI've been frequenting Crucible for over 3 years now. And from day 1 it has ALWAYS been an exceptional experience. Dick, Shawn, Paul, and Andrea amongst others have always been upfront friendly, courteous, accommodating and just friendly. There is truly a flavor here for everyone. Don't just come for the beer, come for the event. Trivia, pinball, Superbowl or just randomness. If I was to run a business this is what I would want my customers to experience. Again, beer is beer but true care and passion about beer and the environment culminates in a great experience you will want to enjoy time...
Read moreHad a few beers here and wasn't very impressed. I think the IPAs were a bit too bitter for the flavor that accompanied it. I am a fan of hoppy/bitter beers, I know a lot of people write negative reviews complaining about something being bitter when it is a bitter beer... The ones I tried just didn't have the balance to justify the bitterness.
Overall, I don't think this is a bad place for a beer but there wasn't anything that set them apart and made me want to come back. Prices and atmosphere...
