Gold Chicken — Restaurant in Everett

After driving around 20 minutes to try a new teriyaki spot because the two teriyaki places I usually go around Silver Lake / Mill Creek area was closed, I think I might've found my #1 place! I ordered spicy chicken, which came with miso soup and salad. Firstly, the taste was not your typical "teriyaki chicken" that comes in a to go box. They serve the chicken in a foil to keep it warm. Chicken tasted like it was freshly grilled (not sitting in a warmer), which I did wonder how it was going to be given I ordered an hour before closing. The first bite was like holy crap, wow, this is sooo dang good! There were like 3-5 different crazy flavors hitting my taste buds at once. The spicy sauce it came with was something I've never tasted before. After looking at their menu online with more detail, I've come to realize that this place wasn't just a teriyaki spot, but a unique, hole in the wall restaurant that served Korean rice bowls (bibimpap), bento boxes, and sushi - all fused with amazing Korean sauce flavors! They also have Korean fried chicken as well, which made sense. Even the salad was amazing because of their dressing. Like they say, it's all about the sauce, and Gold Chicken definitely has their "Magic Sauce!". I'm absolutely going back to try rest of their menu. It's kind of hard to find this place. It's tucked away in the corner of Target's giant parking lot. I think if the location was more visible to the street, this place for sure...

I thought the price was fairly reasonable and I was starting to become a regular customer. After eating there for my 5th or 6th time, I started to order some side items to go in addition to the lunch specials. I started with ordering gyoza. It was a good price and they made it fast and fresh. Yesterday I came in and ordered their chicken special. After eating my meal, I decided to order curry chicken as listed on their side order menu. The owner said to me that she can't make it because "it's too small." I reminded her that it's on her menu and that then repeated my order. She also repeated and said "it's too small, it's too small," and she walked away. She mentioned this in front of other customers, how sad. That made me want to never go back here again. If you want to be pissed off, please try ordering a side order of curry chicken and see what she says. As for me I won't be...

Found this place on Google maps today, looking for a late lunch after running some errands.

It's a tiny little place that does mostly takeout/delivery, though there's a few seats where one could eat or wait for their order. I grabbed a Korean fried chicken bento box to take home, and had a really great experience with my choice.

The bento box was super generous in the amount of food, with a cup of tasty miso soup, several fried appetizers including some fried shrimp and gyoza and a sort of fried potato dish, and there was also a salad, four pieces of sushi, fluffy white rice, and of course, a hefty serving of the Korean fried chicken, which was in a really tasty, sweet-tangy sauce.

There was easily enough food that it ended up also being my dinner, too, so the portions really are prodigious and great value.

Definitely happy with my order and will be looking to grab some takeout...
