I booked a reservation with Esh for my parents' wedding anniversary, hearing all of the great buzz around this new restaurant and wanted to treat them for dinner.
When booking my reservation, I forgot to put into the details that it was their wedding anniversary so I called the restaurant. Numerous times. No answer. I thought - no big deal. I will just call the day of the reservation before they open.
I called again the day of the reservation and had 0 response - despite getting two calls earlier in the day to confirm my reservation (3 minutes of each other) where I was not able to get the attention of either person on the phone before the hung up. No big deal - I understand they have to do prep before opening, and that includes calling everyone to ensure they do make their reservation.
Well - an hour before my parents' reservation - no answer. So I thought, wow, they must be really busy - I will just go in person and give them the card to pay with and explain it is my parents' wedding anniversary and I would like something extra done for them.
I did just that right at 5:00 pm. I spoke to the host, explained what was going on, and asked that their server please acknowledge their anniversary and to please ensure they had a dessert. I asked the young lady who was the host, if she wanted assistance in writing down the card details as a line was starting to form behind me and she said "No ma'am, I've done this many times before. I do not need your help." I shrugged it off as her simply being anxious for dinner service to start.
I later received a phone call from my parents letting me know that not only had no one acknowledged their anniversary, but my credit card was placed for the check of the table next to them, a party of 6. The two tables shared the same server, and my parents overheard the server say to the table next to them, "Do not worry about the check, Samantha has taken care it". The party said, "we don't know a Samantha." And that's when my parents waived over the server and let them know it was for their table - their daughter - who had paid. They also never received their dessert or even a simple "happy anniversary." from anyone.
I understand a busy Saturday night at a restaurant can be overwhelming, but considering the price point for this restaurant, I truly expected more. This night was full of a lot of chances to truly be intentional with their service, and they missed the mark serval times.
I am extremely disappointed with this experience. The food was spectacular, and so was the overall aesthetic. It is sad that the hospitality or attention to detail is not...
Read moreGoogle doesn't offer enough stars for this restaurant! Esh is sophisticated and lovely - such a special experience. Four of us went last night and are still talking about it well into the next afternoon. Every element of the restaurant's design is thoughtful and elegant; lighting, glassware, tableware, artwork, fresh produce on display - stunning. The 2.0 Margarita is juicy and refreshing; it arrived in a gorgeous, heavy cut crystal glass. Four of us shared the mezze dips and couldn't agree on a favorite as they were all outstanding. I did like the labneh and the spicy feta most, myself, but should also note that the tahini in the hummus added such a delicious note. It tasted fresher and cleaner than tahini in any other hummus I've had with the perfect touch of sesame. The burrata special was fantastic; for dinner, I had the shawarma, which was very generously portioned and came with a greens salad with a light, flavorful dressing. A friend enjoyed the fried artichokes (I may have dipped into her plate more than once), and the brussels sprouts were also very tasty. Shared Knaffe and rice pudding for dessert and loved both. It was an experience where one thing after the next outdid the previous - all four of us were very happy. One in my party had the lamb pie; she said that the dish was delicious, but the presentation was also fantastic. Service was perfection; the kind, gracious, professional waitstaff made the experience seamless - we waited for nothing, we weren't unnecessarily bothered. Truly a top 10 dining experience. We made a bit of a drive to eat at Esh and I'd do it again in...
Read moreThis place is visually stunning, with an open kitchen and high ceilings. The restaurant is dimly lit, but pleasingly so. The hostess sat us right away and our server introduced himself. He immediately informed us of the specials of the day and pointed out some recent menu changes which included some new cocktails. He was an excellent server. We opted to start with the 3 dips (hummus, babaganoush, and tzatziki) and the Esh flatbread ($25). A few olives are served along with this. The bread was warm, fresh and so flavorful. While the dips were all good, the hummus was out of this world fantastic; it was creamy and had a little bit of a kick to it. We then had the Moroccan cigars,( 2 cigars for $19) with harrisa dipping sauce and the whole roasted cauliflower. The cigars had a nice taste and crunch and the dipping sauce was excellent. The cauliflower ($18 )was good, but just a tad bland and not sure I completely cared for the smokiness. They only offered 2 types of beer and had no iced tea. The cocktails were pricey. The menu is certainly unique and interesting, however there were no offerings we found for the Main Deal (entrees) that tickled our fancy and they were all quite expensive. There were some Start and Shares that I would like to try along with the lahmajoun flatbread. The entire establishment and the restrooms were very clean and well kept. Parking is in parking garage or if a few other unmarked spaces outside of the garage. I would certainly return for the lovely ambiance and that flatbread and hummus, but most likely not the place I would choose for drinks or a...
