It’s unbelievable how disappointed I am with the food and service here. I saw Super Duper Weenie featured on an episode of Diner Drive-inns and Dives, being that Triple D is one of my favorite shows and I recently relocated to Bridgeport CT, my wife and I were excited to actually try food from a place that Guy Promoted. Here’s my list of reasons why I will NEVER go back again:
#1 they didn’t open on time!
#2 the customer service was horrible, I was literally disrespected to my face for placing my order “Crazy Early” which was then followed by a scoff. Unbelievable!!
#3 the hot dogs where flavorless, mind you we ordered 3 different dogs and a spicy sausage which was also flavorless (only good for the heat from the pepper inside) everything was so bland!!!
#4 although the French fries appeared to be “fresh cut”, they were crunchy like chips and taste like dirt. As I chewed them I was shocked to have a grainy sand texture in my mouth 🤢.
#5 we ordered a Vanilla milkshake that ALSO lacked in flavor. It was like drinking a watered down none flavored icy milk water thing. Good thing I had vanilla, cream, and powered sugar at home because It needed EMERGENCY DOCTORING.
#6 we spent a lot of money that I could have just purchased a pack of Nathan’s hotdogs and made my own with a much better result.
I honestly wish I hadn’t paid for the meal because I didn’t need to spend my money for such a bad experience.
Now to be clear, I’m not blaming Triple D and I also want to acknowledge that it’s been a while since Guy visited and maybe Super Duper Weenie fell wayyyyyyyyy off.
But, if I only had a problem with the food then that would be one thing. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience in general.
So much for being excited about restaurants featured on Triple D.
I think will stick to the most recent locations featured...
Read moreYesterday I really was craving a hot dog and french fries. I wanted to find a place that I thought might be interesting to dine at with my elderly father. We frequently to out to check out the best places that are tasty and affordable! Well I had google searched for a spot to go to and Super Duper Weenie sounded good online so we went on the way to the Fairfield location. Close to i95 and has a parking lot, no street parking and convenient.
I ordered a hot dog I love bacon and cheese and then my father had sauerkraut on his. We shared a large fry which was a great size to share but I could have gone for more because i really enjoyed them. Seasoned shoestring fries. Yummy hot dog with actual full bacon strips not chips of bacon. Great quality dog and me and dad gave all the food a big thumbs up! I also ordered a Strawberry 🍓 milkshake made with realy strawberries!!! Was amazing! Dad had a bottled birch beer.
I was talking with the owner Gary about his restaurant and he is a very nice person and hardworker! In business over 30 years! The counter member who took the order was named Carolina. She was very nice as well and great at her job!
Theres seating when u walk in with a U shaped of stools and counter to sit and also in the back to left some table and a room to eat and a bathroom that is close by. Very clean restaurant and you can see them cooking its an open kitchen which I always loved to see how they handle and prepare my food!
The price was so reasonable we got all that food for just around $20! That is amazing for Fairfield County and we were both really impressed with the entire menu too! Not just hot dogs You can order burgers, chicken, alot of different things and specialty hot dogs they came up with!
Thank you Gary and Carolina and i’ll come...
Read moreI'm not usually in the Connecticut area, but if I ever do a drive up to New England, you BET this is going to be one of my stops. Why? C'mon. It's called Super Duper Weenie.
If you've ever been to Crif Dogs in NYC, then you get the basic idea of this place. It's a mix of fresh homemade topping combinations on a pure meat hotdog (no odds and ends here, folks).
The main chef (Gary), wearing the stars and stripes bandana, is there ALL the time. He's a CIA graduate chef who just loves his job and continues to experiment with different food combinations. When I was here this past weekend, he was literally making something he's never made before for a regular customer. Incredible dedication and attention to detail makes me weep with joy that passion like this actually exists.
As for what I ordered, I was feeling peckish, so I got:
This is one of those places where I'll come here as many times as it takes to try...
