Sweet Basil — Restaurant in Fairfield

I ordered lunch sushi including 2 sushi and miso soup. Found a hair stretching across from the 2 sushi. Long and black. Across a white plate. How could noone have seen this before it reached our table??? My hair is grey/white and short. My partner's hair is very short black & brown curly. No way it could've been either of ours. First, they wouldn't comp my lunch order. Then she kept saying that they replaced my order. Then kept saying they would only do 10%. I told them to do 20%. At least I wasn't asking for the entire meal to be comped. Seeing that hair disgusted both of us. Then instead of remaking my sushi as priority, I waited and had thought the entire time that they would just rearrange the sushi and bring same one out. By time they brought my plate out, my partner had her sushi finished, so we technically didn't eat together. I should've taken a photo. No, it is not illegal to demand a tip in the United States, but it is generally considered poor etiquette and could lead to negative social consequences. Tipping is a voluntary act of appreciation for service, not a mandatory charge. While businesses can implement service charges, they must be clearly communicated to the customer beforehand. But when I ask my request or concerns about why I was asked about a tip ??? wow I couldn't enjoy the time to the fact of a tip from me to them.. I ask what if I had a 50 it wouldn't matter... I'm so disappointed with sweet basil !! seriously though wow how this hurts one of my favorites spot until today.......... what a disappointment 😞 !! I'm staying away from this spot 😒 from now on... they lost a my money 💰 and support stay away and find a place that truly appreciate your money and time in there ad establishment no respect for my color ...........or race ............... not veteran...

Something that aggravated me recently concerning SWEET BASIL RESTAURANT.. they do have good food..BUT BEWARE! THEY CHARGE A MANDATORY 20% SERVICE CHARGE/GRATUITY.! AND NOW WHAT'S RIDICULOUS.. CHARGING 20% SERVICE CHARGE ON DRINKS AT THE BAR!! While I always leave a gratuity generally 20%... I don't like being forced into a gratuity as gratuity stands for to ensure proper service it's not supposed to be mandatory!; last week I was there and they did not charge service charge on the drinks. . I tip generously..but being forced to leave a tip is ridiculous! . NOW THEY'RE CHARGING 20% ON THE DRINKS SITTING AT THE BAR.!! ..& ON TOP OF THIS THE PLACE IS FREEZING!
