I am a Former Employee at The Fairhaven MA. McDonald's. I was Hired April 2023 and Ended in January 2024. I was Hired With the Understanding I would Move to Full Time, as I had experience, having worked for McDonald's in RI in Early 2000. I worked up to 34 hours per week. and after a bit, hours got "Cut". I would Come In Early when needed,..Calling ahead of time to see if I was Needed to show Up. I developed Osteo Arthritis in My Hip, and also Degenerative Disc in lower back and was under a Chiropractor's care.. which they were made aware of. Prior to my leaving, I was Publicly ridiculed by a Member of Corprorate... The Remark, after seeing me limping was "Hey Slowpoke. What U Gonna Do.. KEEL OVER ON US Back There?" I was angry, brought it to my GM's attention after he got back from Vacation.. Response I Got was "Well..You KNOW HOW HE IS".. Nothing, in Other Words was Done, No apology Given by this Corprorate Individual. After That, I was allowed, From time to time, to take 15 minute sit down breaks from another assistant manager who saw me struggling at one point. I inquired one day as to when my break would be, because I was in Considerable Discomfort at that point. The Other Assistant Manager, whose Husband Is also connected to Corporate Office Yelled in front of Other Employees and a full Dining room "Your Acting Like a F'in 5 Year Old.. Asking for Breaks all the Time." I was Embarrassed.. My Hours were then cut down to 1 Day a week....The day being Fridays. I worked after That at Wendy's Fairhaven, as a "Back Up" Job to Supplement, also Worked at a Gas Station. (I recommednd Wendy's Fairhaven Btw. Great Atmosphere, caring Manager by the Name Of Drea) This did not go over well with McDonald's... I was Ridiculed a few Times.. and a manager from McDonald's... Corporate End actually came into Wendy's one Day asking If I was there that Day or Not... So, Do I recommend McDonald's As a Place to Work? No. They have little or no regard for their employees.. "Promise Them Anything to Get Them In Uniform".. Btw.. I am not a Teenager.. I am a 63 Year Old Man. I hesitate to Name Names, But anyone that has been in there frequently as a Customer can Add 2 and 2 I hope. Some of the remarks, ,and Embarrassments were witnessed by a Friend of Mine on 2 Separate Occasions. When I quit, I had a Meetng with the GM.. I explained My Reasons for quitting, and It Fell On Deaf Ears. He was More Concerned if I made an Issue of it, that His name Would be brought Into It.."I had Nothing To Do With All This" was His Tag Line at The End.... Apparently His Assistant Manager, Wields a Lot of Power, Since The GM refuses To Go Against Her... OR Hold Her Accountable For Anything .. Even When an Employee with a Physical Impairment is Openly Ridiculed in Front of The Public.... "Hurt, Angry.....Mixed Feelings.. I know I'll Never Set Foot in...
Read moreThis review is for a specific visit to the Fairhaven McDonald's that occurred on Sunday September 17, 2023. In general, I find this store to be satisfactory in all respects. But on Sept 17th, I placed an order from home on the McDonalds app and paid for it at the time of placing the order. When I arrived at the store and tried to select the button that notifies the store that I had arrived and assigns a pickup number, the McDonalds app was frozen. This had happened before, and the shift manager had been able to find the order on their computer using information from the purchase receipt I had received by email from McDonalds. From their computer, the shift manager was able to assign a pickup number and the order was filled.
This time, when I asked the shift manager to help me, he said there was nothing he could do. He was only allowed to fill orders that had a pickup number. When I tried to tell him what the other shift manager had done to solve the problem, he angrily told me "Don't tell me how to do my job". Things went downhill from there, so I'll just jump to the end where the shift manager pointed to the door and said, "Get out of my store or I'll call the police". I left the store along with my 6 year old granddaughter who had started crying. When we got into the car, I asked her why she was crying but she wasn't able to talk at that moment. I made a guess and asked her if she was afraid of the police, and she nodded. This is a sad commentary on our times.
I have one useful piece of advice to others using the McDonalds app. This advice was given to me by a woman in the restaurant who had experienced a similar problem with the McDonalds app. Do not submit/pay for an order on the app until you have arrived at the restaurant.
Update two weeks later: The Fairhaven McDonald's store manager has blocked me from ordering from his store through the app. When I try, it keeps changing the order location to a...
Read moreMcDonald's is usually known for quick food but at this one, the wait time is usually around 15 minutes if you go in. There was only one family in front of me it took forever to get a French fry, drink, and cheeseburger. I wouldn't complain but this ate up a good portion of my lunch hour at work. The focus seems to be drive-thru so your food will be in your hands quicker when you opt to order that way. Personally, my favorite thing about McDonald's is usually the fries but mine typically seem to be luke-warm or only half filled at this particular location which is disappointing, especially when that's the only thing in ordering. The staff is generally nice there but slightly aloof as I had to wait seven minutes then call someone over to pay after ordering from the kiosk since no-one would come to the desk to take my order. After standing at reception for a while a girl asked me what I was waiting for (it was a cheeseburger with extra onions) and she went to the conveyer belt and placed a cheeseburger on my tray. I asked if it was mine and she said it was a cheeseburger before walking to the back. It wasn't mine .... Barely any...
