I was not really interested in the bubble tea stuffs because I remembered the not so good experience from another store many years ago when I tried my first sip. It tasted like chalk. A week ago when we walked past OneZo, the staffs invited us for a free drink. The shop had simple design, and we were greeted with some smiley faces. The workers patiently explained to me the different options to compose my drink. I ordered the taro smoothy. I don't have sweet tooth, so the 25% sugar with the sweetened coconut jelly was perfect for me. It actually tasted very good. The best part was that my kid who has food allergies could safely order a drink there. The owner showed me every label of the ingredients that were added to the drink.
I went again yesterday late afternoon with my kids' requests as we were in the area. The young workers seemed to be more organized and worked in better flow than last time. There was a deal of buy one get one half this week during soft opening. I ordered a sesame milk tea with brown sugar Boba and 25% sweetness. Perhaps it would be better with 30% sweetness as the tea might need more sugar to neutralize the bitter taste. Not complaining, it's still good. The boba was chewy. I had the opportunity to explore more about this business while waiting for the heavy rain to stop. It's a family owned Taiwanese franchise. They make the Boba freshly from scratch every day on-site. The Boba come in different flavors. They use yogurt, milk, different kinds of tea as the base with added sweet ingredients. Some of the syrups are real fruit purees (see picture). I could personalized what to add according to my own taste. When looking around, I noticed murals on the walls painted by one of the owners' daughter. I can see this place was built and put together with heart and passion although not perfect as under commercial designer's hands. It's not easy to start up a small new business during this time. I do hope they will do well with the location close to Oxford Valley Mall and Sesame Place. I would give an extra star for the happiness of my allergy child and the very friendly...
Read moreStumbled across this super cute store, which I heard is only about a month and a half old at this point. You could tell by how exceptionally clean everything was inside!! Decided to try their special of the day which was coconut milk with coconut boba and while inside I saw a very interesting food item which turned out to be grilled octopus so I tried that as well. I had never had the coconut boba before. It was sweeter than I expected, which was a nice surprise. The grilled octopus was super cool. Not at all what I expected, and so hard to describe, from the flavors to the texture. If you're someone who's down for trying new things, check this out for sure. I love me some poky so I had to pick up some chocolate ones to share with the twins tonight!! The atmosphere is just relaxing and clean and wonderful. They have these two gigantic black leather. Comfortable chairs right in the lobby. Plenty of room to sit down if you want to stay there and eat or hang out with your tea or just get your order to go. Always love to support new businesses and I hope this one does well. If you're in the area and you like boba tea... Or you've never had it before... Stop and give this...
Read moreOne Zo’s drinks don’t just look good — they’re authentic to the core, and nowhere is that clearer than with their Uji Matcha Latte. This isn’t some syrupy, green-dyed drink pretending to be matcha. They actually use real Uji matcha, a premium type of green tea from Japan that’s known for its vibrant color, earthy aroma, and rich umami flavor. It’s the kind of ingredient that speaks to respect for tradition, not just aesthetics.
When you drink their Uji Matcha Latte, you can tell it’s made with intentionality. The matcha is freshly whisked and layered with milk — no powdery aftertaste, no fake sweetness — just the smooth, grassy richness of real ceremonial-grade matcha. It’s balanced with their house-made boba (which you can choose in different flavors), making the drink feel like a perfect fusion of Taiwanese and Japanese craftsmanship.
One Zo isn’t trying to Americanize or gentrify the boba experience. They’re honoring the roots — whether it’s Taiwanese brown sugar pearls or Japanese matcha — and that’s what makes their drinks hit different. Every cup tastes like someone actually cared about what they were...
