Tbh, but for its location next to Sesame Place, I never would have heard of Raising Cane's. I took DD there for lunch after doing water rides at Sesame all morning and she was over the moon with this establishment! There's nothing bad at all that I can say about Raising Cane's. It was very clean, service was prompt, and I enjoyed my chicken finger sandwich. Because I give Google Big Brother access to track my location, once Google discovered I had been to Rasing cane's, the establishment started showing up in my Google news feed. I learned that it is a big favorite among Eagles players. We went back after the fireworks display at Sesame Place over Labor Day because I thought that maybe I missed some memo explaining why this place is adored more than Chick-fil-A. While I Igive them credit for a unique gimmick, a restaurant devoted purely to the chicken finger, and I even read their big plaque explaining the history of the business. What I don't quite understand is what makes people drive out of their way knowing that their only menu options are chicken fingers or chicken fingers on a sandwich. There are tons of places to get great chicken fingers Chick-fil-A being my personal favorite. Just as the first time, restaurant was very clean, staff was friendly, food was clearly freshly prepared. The chicken breading had a distinct flavor - some magical blend of secret spices like KFC, I suppose. And for my daughter who is just starting to venture off the little kid beige diet, amazing chicken fingers and no other choices is right up her alley. I still got to be honest, don't understand how the gimmick of Devotion to the chicken finger leads to a successful business model because I haven't gone there twice and knowing my only options are chicken fingers and if I want to get fancy, a piece of Texas toast or coleslaw, what is my reason going and eating there again when I've experienced their whole menu? Nothing bad at all to say about Raising Cane's work based on the fact that if I wanted anything but a chicken finger, I would be SOL. Family friendly and again super convenient if you don't want to wait an hour in line and overpay for cafeteria grade food that Sesame Place offers. Its proximity to the entrance to Sesame Place, at most at 5 or 6 Minute walk, is also appealing. But I'm not jazzed up and unless d d wants to go there again, I don't think I have any reason to overpay for chicken fingers be there on a bun or with Texas toast. Also, I did notice that unlike Chili's or other big box restaurants that cater to families and adults out for a bite and some drinks, Raising Cane's didn't have a kids menu or something to keep the kiddos distracted like a puzzle place that. You won't have a bad meal, and hopefully I've managed your expectations so that you clearly understand it's chicken fingers and only chicken fingers. If anyone takes the time to read this review and can offer some insight about the mass appeal of the establishment, please share I truly would...
Read moreThis place has a lot of hype at the moment but does the hype translate to the food? Personally I think not. The food is not bad but it doesn't do anything that differentiates it from the competition, it's average to best describe it.
The entire concept of the store is centered around chicken fingers, every combo/meal has chicken fingers.
I had ordered the Sandwich combo for $9.99 and it comes with the following: fries, the sandwich with 3 chicken fingers between the buns, lettuce and Cane's sauce as well as a drink (fountain drink/tea or lemonade). For the drink I chose their lemonade for a small upcharge (basically a few cents, it wasn't noticable).
To start the fries were unseasoned, and just plain old fries. It may be possible they had salt somewhere but I did not see any during my visit.
Now for the sandwich, it had the same issue, no seasoning on the chicken, it seems to rely on the Cane's sauce for any type of flavoring but for the most part it tasted plain with bits of flavoring from the sauce here and there. If I had to describe the Cane's sauce, it's slightly sweet, tastes as if honey was in the mix, maybe with mayo?
Unfortunately, my sandwich did not have lettuce as they ran out. Something to note is that the cashier made this clear to me that they ran out of lettuce before I placed the order, which I appreciate.
Finally the lemonade tastes like any generic powder lemonade, which is not a bad thing unless you are expecting real lemonade as it is advertised as freshly squeezed. However, I was informed by my sister that she saw the drink had pulp, I did not notice this with my experience drinking it (as I did not taste pulp, all liquid) but I thought I'd include it as the drink may actually be natural or the pulp may have been so small that I didn't notice.
Overall, I would not come here again personally but if you are okay with unseasoned food and are a fan of chicken fingers, this is the place for you. I may be missing the market for this place as alternatives such as Popeyes has seasoned chicken tenders and fries, making it a more worthwhile choice in my opinion.
One last thing to note, as mentioned earlier this place has a lot of hype. So currently the place is packed to the brim both in the restaurant and the drive through possibly due to it recently opening a less than a month ago (opened in September 2022) as of this review. You will need to be patient for your food, I am not writing this a con but as a notice as some reviews state that the service is slow. But that makes sense as it has high volume...
Read moreI was really hoping to love this place and it did not meet expectations on many different levels. If I could have pulled away from the drive thru I would not have purchases anything.
I am not going to complain about the wait. It was the 2nd day open and it is understandable to have to wait. My wait was about 30 minutes.
Menu is not large, pretty straight forward. Chicken fingers or a chicken sandwich. Sides are coleslaw, Texas toast and French fries.
I started my order request a tray of 25 tenders and asked what sauces came with it. The employee told me there was Canes sauce, hot sauce, honey mustard or ketchup. I then asked what is the "canes" sauce 3 times. Each time I asked I was given the same response...."I don't know, it is a secret sauce that we make in house and only the managers know what is in it". After the 3 time of me asking I then said....is it spicy, smokey, sweet? And got a reply again, I don't know, I guess all of them.
That really out a bad taste in my mouth. I am not asking for your "secret" recipe. I have my children that don't like certain tastes and I have allergies. After all that, I did try the sauce and it was gross. 5 adults and 2 children tried the sauce and did not like it. FYI- If anyone is interested the sauce consists of: ketchup, mayo, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, garlic powder and creole seasoning.
I then decided to cancel my full tray of chicken tenders and order a 6 piece meal to try and be done. Again I would have pulled away if I could have.
Our meal was 6 tenders, a drink, 2 sides and French fries....$17.33 😳😳 on the expensive side.
Chicken tasted ok. Not a bad taste, but the breading/batter was pretty bland. The Texas toast was so bland my children wouldn't eat it. It literally tasted like plain grilled bread. The French fries were the best thing.
Sorry, Raising Cane's we will not be back. I do not see them last long after the hype of "let's try the new...
