I've tried to be understanding time after time but I'm just beyond frustrated with the 1. Lack of care by the front end people and 2.take out orders constantly incorrect. I always make it a point to re-iterate what I am changing on my orders and never anything difficult but it seems very difficult for either the front end people to relay the correct info or the people making and putting together the orders. It's also frustrating as there usually isn't much for greetings of hello and thank you. I'm not sure but do these young workers you have understand their paycheck is determined off of people coming back? I know this isn't the only restaurant that's lacking on greetings, thank you's and service issues but I can tell you my blood starts to boil when I have to come back, again, because my order was half made or made with ingredients I requested not to have in it, with 2 to 3 workers standing at the front chitter chattering with each other or on their phones. Especially when I had just had to call 2-3 times to get this fixed when I know there's people just standing there literally doing nothing. I really wonder what the job description is for the front end help because it's lacking significantly. This is enough for me to take my business elsewhere sadly. Every time I hope it's going to be different but unfortunately it's the same or worse. Having someone smile to greet you and thank you, can go a long way. Not standing there chatting with one another or on their phones as if they are at home or at their friends house, doesn't bode well in the restaurant business. In the end, even after I called and said what was wrong, they still didn't listen to the details I told them. Details can mean everything especially if you have allergies or reactions to food. Very...
Read moreThere are a few rare moments where I really, reallyyyy wish I could give a place more than 5 stars. And Plaza Azteca has earned that! So freaking good, so even though you only see a 5 star rating- just imagine in your mind the golden stars continuing and continuing… making their own fun constellation of deliciousness!
Last summer I picked up a ton of delivery orders from here, and I am super serious in that there was not one time where it was not insanely busy- a full house, packed to the brim and raucous with only more people coming. Indeed I get why now.
This is some high quality food right here- I could probably come every day of the week, and I would never say that lightly. Everything I have tried has been fantastic. One of my favorites ever is a seafood Pineapple dish, I can’t remember what it’s called but you literally get a stuffed pineapple and put the innards into tortillas and oh my oh my oh my! I don’t want to say I’d sell my soul for that stuffed pineapple, but I’d seriously debate it.
Along with fantastic food, they also have some bomb margaritas- the only way to describe them properly is to call them Monster Margs. If you look at pictures you will get why: they are absolutely ginormous. The biggest margaritas I’ve ever seen- they are a little spendier, but you are pretty much paying for 2 margs in one glass so it makes up for...
Read moreAs several other reviewers stated, this is my clear choice for the best Mexican food, ambiance and service in Fargo / Moorhead. There were a lot of cars around the building, but we beat the primary rush and got a table. The main reason I came was for the guacamole that is made fresh at your table and it did not disappoint.
Prior to that, they brought complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the red salsa was thick and tasted great. What was unique was the bowl of white salsa that they also brought. It tasted somewhat similar to ranch dressing, but was a recipe that they make fresh each day. It was truly unique and I grew to like it more and more as we finished the chips.
August 2020 Update: I like ceviche, so decided to try the Cocktail de Camarones with a tall Pacifico. It was delicious as-is and included an ample quantity of shrimp. However, if I made it to my tastes, I would add less ketchup sauce and would make the sauce more spicy and less sweet. Also, I recommend asking for more chips, as I'm not a huge saltine crackers fan, do enjoyed it on chips more than the crackers.
Definitely worth a stop if you love quality Mexican food, good service and a lively atmosphere with great music in the background...seemed like the better restaurants we visited during our...
