Hey friends!! I was so excited to see another Tiffany Derry resturant. Itās been like good food PokĆ©mon because I caught them all. I thought I could get in during the opening but āHAā joke was on me. I had to wait about 3 weeks for an reservation. All that told me was this is going to be good frfr good. I pulled out my latest frock and grabbed a friend to hang out on a Thursday. I didnāt even look at the menu I wanted to be surprised. The only thing I heard about was the Koolaide cocktail flavor (RED). I was excited to see Chermine Wine on the menu. A Texas based wine company that women owned. I was just a little worried about the price per glass for them and Black Girl Magic compared to Italian and French wines. I felt it wasnāt priced accurately. It was too high. Thereās no other choice. Since Titoās give me a headache I had to look for another option. I saw Laveau, an amazing peach infused rum, grapefruit, luxardo maraschino cherries, and SMOKE! This creation is beautiful to see come gracefully to your table. Youāre memorizing with this smoke cloud and released with smoke; so extra. I love it. After a couple of sips our server explained the concept of the restaurant and gave us suggestions. We had shared items and went on to select an entree. Cast Iron cornbread with smoke seared butter and Strawberry rhubarb. Itās in mini cast irons and I was a little apprehensive because Iāve had it somewhere else and it was a mushy mess. This cornbread subtle sweetness where you can play up savory notes or lightly dancing around cake. I had a slice but I knew I could fill up on this. We decided on also sharing Spring Pea Salad. Now, hear me out because I was thinking English peas. The main concept was country cookingā¦being around in your Auntie or Grandmaās house. I see my Texas family had it all wrong because when that plate came to the table I was surprised. Then I had a bite. It was such a refreshing and clean salad. I would put this up as perfect palate cleanser. It was simply made with burrata, preserved lemon, radishes and bacon. This by far was my favorite thing I had that evening. Since I could decide on having duck fat fries as a starter so boom I ordered a Coulotte Steak with duck fat fries and farm greens. I did request it to be medium rare, which was the chef recommendation but it was medium so close to well-done. I still enjoyed it. When I say I want my meat to moo š® a little bit I mean it. I canāt wait to try them again. After speaking to Tom Foley the Sea Scallops are next in the list to enjoy. Itās his wifeās favorite and Iām sure Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of our family members really wanted to go to this restaurant for his birthday, so we did. He enjoyed it very much, which was the point of the visit so it was a success. I, on the other hand was not so impressed. The noise level made it nearly impossible for a group of eight seated at a u-shaped booth hear each other talk. The booth seat was too narrow for me, so it felt like I was purchasing on an edge the entire meal, more like a picnic table than a restaurant at this price point. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. The fried Chicken was very good, but not better than Bubba's. The website description accurately said that it would serve 3 to 4. Three of us split the chicken, two of a split one steak, and the rest had entrees in addition to appetizers and a few sides. The winner by far was the pea salad: it was unusual, had a well-balanced but diverse taste, and everyone liked it. Unfortunately it won't be on the menu next week because they're changing their base menu. The fried blue yams were also very good, but a bit salty. The other members of our party liked the redfish and the pork chop, also which won't be available next week. The crawfish fried rice was liked by everyone who had it. The desserts, including banana pudding and the daily ice cream and sorbet were excellent. At an average $75 a person, given the splits if everyone had ordered an entree we would easily have been over $100 apiece without a significant amount of alcohol (the mocktails were unreasonably expensive but beer was on the inexpensive side; oddly, although it was a complete bar they didn't have Bloody Mary's). At this price point, I expect the food to be uniformly excellent, interesting, and something to write home about. That simply wasn't the case here. It was good, but not great. At this price point, I also expect a comfortable seating environment that's not too crowded at a noise level where it's reasonably possible to talk to the members of your party without shouting and this was not. Service was friendly, competent, and attentive, but certainly not up to fine dining standards as far as delivery and presentation. I'm glad we went for my family member's sake, but I won't go back. There are too many other restaurants at this price point that I vastly prefer. While I won't go so far as to say not recommended, I would certainly suggest thinking twice about alternatives...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant had just opened two weeks ago and everything was AMAZING! Note to anyone going - make a reservation. We had set a reservation but we were 15 minutes late and I'm pretty sure they gave up our table - but that was entirely our fault. The host was so nice and said that he would let us know when our table would be ready and gave us updates while we sat outside - they even provided us water while we sat out there, good customer service! Our server was amazing and so nice and really made our experience! To start we had glasses of prosecco and I had the Uncle Nearest Old Fashioned - a very good cocktail. We then had the Fried Shrimp and Grits and the Stuffed Zucchini Flowers. The zucchini was very light with an amazing jerk ranch. The shrimp and grits were ha-wow-ey. We didn't realize until after they came out that it was fried and in a ball but they were soo good. As an entree we shared the Jerk Lamb Chops and the Southern Greens (also came with hot water cornbread). The lamb chops were perfectly cooked with the perfect amount of jerk spiciness - they were some of the best cooked lamb chops I've ever had and they were served with these red beans and rice called Hoppin John and they were packed with so much flavor! Myself and my sister were very hesitant about the hot water cornbread because we've never had it where it actually tasted good, but these blew all the ones I've had in the past out of the water. The greens were also great and served with a little bit of specialty vinegar so you can add to your liking. For desert we had the Chocolate Cake (there's a longer name for it but I can't remember!), an Espresso Martini, and the cocktail with the bubble (at this point I was so thoroughly satisfied with this meal that I didn't take down the name of things š¬). The cake was served with pecans, strawberries, and ice cream and the chocolate wasn't too thick or rich and was very delicious, the same for the drinks. I will definitely be coming here again because we were told that the chef only cooks based on what is seasonal, so you never know what she'll be cooking the next time you go. Such an amazing experience - definitely go before the rest of Dallas...
