I went to Mod Pizza yesterday with my friend for lunch and I'm absolutely blown away by the service, food, and cleanliness of this place.
First of all I was immediately greeted, I appreciate this above basically anything when walking into a restaurant. My friend and I were new and the guy who helped us was amazing he explained everything and was just as excited as we were to create our pizza creations and was extremely helpful.
I want to note specifically one thing that I greatly appreciate about this person though. I had casually mentioned to him and my friend (because we were all having a great conversation) that I'm not exactly a vegetarian because I do occasionally eat meat but that I loved a good vegetarian pizza. Well he asked if I wanted him to change his gloves to make my pizza, obviously remembering what I had said about being mostly vegetarian and being mindful of the fact that he'd been handling meat on my friends pizza before making mine. I said no because it's not a big deal to me. But for people out there who are truly vegetarians and are careful about these things, I think they can feel safe going here and appreciate the fact that they've hired people who respect other people's food choices.
All in all Mod Pizza was an amazing people experience and their food is amazing!! I got a mini pizza with a drink (their blackberry lemonade is the best damn thing I've had in a while) and it cost me 7 bucks! Are you kidding me?! Yes please!
I also appreciate that they have hired your not so typical every day type of people. I enjoy seeing and talking to people who have piercings, tattoos, and stretched ears. They are people I can relate to easily and are free to be who they are when they work which makes for a super laid back environment, that works a hell of a lot better than strict appearance rules other companies put on their employees.
10 out of 10 will be returning as often as I can. I can't remember the guys name, but he had an awesome blue and black striped beanie on and stretched ears. If you see him, you're in good hands. He made a recommendation for me to get the asparagus tips they have and he was SPOT ON! I would honestly be happy with a bowl of just the...
Read moreMy coworkers and I used to frequent Mod for lunch and LOVED it - the food, service and vibe! Then it started going downhill about a year ago in quality, not having ingredients, getting rid of toppings, and either the quality of the employees or employee morale … hard to tell bc sometimes a blurred line. We kept giving it a chance and each time, it collectively got worse. Today sealed the deal for me that I won’t be back.
Firstly, the two people working the front line worked at a snail’s pace. Was hoping they’d win me over with their awesome personalities like your staff used to have, but no. Not even the faintest smiles or positive tone of voice. The guy prepping my pizza told me even that he didn’t have an ingredient (rosemary seasoning) and that only the other line had it which is literally three steps to his right. They couldn’t make the simple Dillon James bc they were out of tomatoes and basil. Then looked and he was nearly out of everything or “soupy” remains. I wish I had taken a picture of his work station. What a mess! I could totally understand if it was messy if he was working really quickly or moving customers through but this was not the case.
Cashier was also a pizza maker so I know they were short, but instead tried to get her coworkers attention on how many tickets came through to show her frustration instead of just trying to get out of the weeds. The process of the same person building your pizza from start to finish was not more efficient either. The girl firing the pizza was decent. Then to the bev station, no sweet tea or Marion blackberry lemonade, my fav part. The remnants of what was supposed to be sweet tea looked like frothy melted creamsicle and not in a good way. It was opaque. See pic.
Clearly this location was struggling but definitely haven’t liked some of the corporate changes either. The brand promise of [We’re all about choice. The MOD experience is built around high-quality, personalized products delivered superfast.] is not there at all anymore. I hated to see this...
Read moreHorrible! So horrible I decided to send the HQ a message at 2 am because I couldn't sleep out of anger. Employees didn't listen or respond to questions. I ordered a thick crust, pointing to an image of a thick crust behind me, and they put the dough down, but it was paper thin, about 14" in diameter, and when I asked if it was right, they insisted it would rise. I verified the size of the diameter, because I had asked for a six inch, but didn't get to hear the answer because I had to stop the next employee in the row from putting red sauce on it, asking her to wait. I figured, fine, it's the thick crust, the size doesn't matter as much.
I asked about the sauces and the girl rattled them off at warp speed, impossible to hear over the six other employees behind her, and she put the red on it without waiting for an answer, then immediately dropped a handful of shredded mozzarella, and passed it on.
I refuse to waste food so I let it go. Over the blaring music and employees behind her talking, the girl at the last station probably didn't hear me. She told me the signs were out of place- so more ingredients I didn't want.
I told the guy at the register again that I was very unhappy, and didn't get what I wanted at all, and he just smiled through it and proceeded to ring it up without addressing it.
Needless to say I was already very upset, but tried to let it go until the pizza came- razor thin and sopping wet. It was disgusting, clearly not a thick crust. I was going to take a photo of it to include, but unfortunately it didn't survive the ride home, and the photo was just of a jumbled mess of damp ingredients.
