!!Chicagoan Alert!!
Had to show some love on Google!
Loved loved loved Wolfies! It definitely reminded me of bars back home. Cubs, Bears and Hawks swag decorated the walls along with moose heads. Perfect spot for some grub and a night cap.
Service was outstanding! Our waitress helped us end a few debates on what to order. She was very attentive considering how busy they were, on a Tuesday night I might add.
We ordered two appetizers, the Wings and the Pretzel Breadsticks with sea salt and melted white American cheese. So good! The wings were perfection, they were actual wings not frozen or breaded, naked and fresh. The breadsticks to my amazement were NOT stale, hard or undercooked, they were delicious and soft and beautifully paired with the white American cheese.
Let's get down to the showcase. For the main course I had the Woodberry Burger, medium. Are you ready for this, perfectly cooked burger topped with the standard lettuce, tomato, onion but then creamy soft and fluffy cream cheese, thick cut crispy bacon and a sauce called Melba sauce. I had never heard of it, it was a raspberry sauce they drizzled over the cream cheese. My friends this is one of the best I've ever had. It may have snuck into the top five for me.
We stayed at a hotel down the street and had decided to walk here. Glad we did. We had plenty of drinks in this cozy atmosphere. Some business banter, future plans, old memories were all covered over a few cocktails. They had on a few Major League Baseball games and the place was a buzz with the action.
All in all we had a blast. Thank you to everyone there for a wonderful...
Read moreWalked in alone. The hostess sat me at the end of the bar by the kitchen door. Fine with me, but a server continually slammed dirty glasses on the bar, literally less than 12 inches from my hand, as he cleared tables. The other servers, and the kitchen staff, believed yelling at the top of their lungs was the best way to communicate with no regard to the fact that I'm a customer. Bartender was great, the food was good but not outstanding. As I was trying to finish my meal the same glass slamming server walked up behind me, hit my left shoulder with what felt like his fist , and asked me if I "was the sports guy". I'm 53 years old, I travel regularly, and in years past I have traveled for a living. I have NEVER had a server, whom I have never talked to nor met, walk up behind me and physically hit me. I would never let my daughters walk into an establishment that finds this type of behavior acceptable, and I would never recommend that anyone else does. Honestly his attitude, and the uninvited physical contact, really ticked me off. I didn't finish my food. When asked by the bartender why I did not finish my food. I described to him the series of events listed in this review. Despite my obvious concern, the staff did NOTHING to address, discuss, or apologize for their unacceptable actions. I paid my tab, I left a tip. I'll...
Read moreI normally wouldn’t take time to write a bad review if I didn’t think it needed to be heard so; first waitress we had was young, kind and happy to great us. Shortly after taking our drink order we got an older waitress that was very dismissive and was adamant about how this was HER table. So okay I understand, but after this her and another older waitress continued to belittle this younger girl even snatching the register saying “me first”..like a kid..this waitress didn’t let it kill her shine though and she CONTINUED to smile, do her job and gave them ZERO attitude. Took forever to get our bill due to the older waitress socializing and not paying attention to our table at all. The food was not great either, not terrible but was very bland and just not worth anything..I won’t be coming back her and really hope to bump into the waitress at a better working establishment; just feel bad for her and that terrible work...
