UPDATE Nov. 2024 NOOOOoooooOOOOO!!!!!!! Along with a name change, "The Hound" (now earthbound) has revised its menu and tossed out those incredibly wonderful Scotch Eggs that always drew me in for a quick snack when passing by, along with regular meals. They offer fish fry every day now, but perch is no longer on the menu. I find these changes much to the worse (previously they changed the quesadilla and made it a less desirable option). Sorry, gotta dock a few stars for food now, I fail to understand the rationale for these menu changes. less choice is never better. I also suspect there may not be as many craft beers available anymore. Shame on you -- Bad Dog! May 2025 update: I have not been back, and no plans to. ****** I can always depend on finding a big selection of beers and spirits at this fine pub, with rotating beer and ale and cider selections weekly. And the food is excellent, especially the Friday fish fry options. I hope they NEVER stop offering their Scotch eggs on the appetizer menu! I order one (or more) of these every time I find time for a quick pit stop for a snack and a pint. And they are de rigeur before any larger meal. No one and no place else makes as good a Scotch egg in my experience, which includes Scottish Highland games and time spent in Great Britain. Flying Hound knows how to do the job!

Unfortunately this place is no longer what it used to be. First the name changed to just "The Hound" and now the menu has undergone a disappointing overhaul. Gone are the days of scotch eggs, poutine, and other unique menu finds. The new, much smaller menu is nothing to rave about. Basic bar food. I'm guessing they lost their chef and the great menu along with him. We came on a Friday just before 5pm and it was not as busy as I would have expected. Only a few tables for happy hour. It still took the staff over 5 minutes to come over after we sat down. Service was good otherwise. Fish fry and burger were average. Prices have gone up... Sides are no longer included with sandwiches/burgers, so add an extra $5 if you want fries. This used to be one of our go-to restaurants and somewhere we'd recommend to out-of-towners looking for great food and an extensive beer menu. Sad to say, that is no longer the case. I don't think we'll be going back.

The Flying Hound was a stellar experience! We were greeted and seated promptly. Karsten was our waiter. He was polite and attentive while maintaining a fun and witty atmosphere. The menu is diverse and everything we had was wonderful! The pretzel was the perfect combination of soft, salty with a slightly crunchy exterior. If you enjoy mustard - the trio of mustard that comes with the pretzel is to die for! My main entree was the Grilled Shrimp Po Boy (pictured). I can only describe it as impressive! It was light, fresh and everything I was looking for. I did add a little extra remoulade, but that's just because I enjoy my sandwiches a little bit saucier. We will definitely be returning again, and recommending to others. Thank you for the great date night out!

A visit to The Flying Hound Alehouse turned out to be a delightful surprise, transforming an initial disappointment into a memorable dining experience. My girlfriend, my parents, and I visited on a Friday in April, seeking refuge from a long wait at a nearby restaurant, with our sights set on indulging in their famed fish fry.

We were not let down, as each of us ordered one of the fish fry options. The fried Alaskan cod, in particular, was a standout dish. Unlike the usual cod fish fry at other restaurants, which can often be greasy and deep-fried, the Alaskan cod here was tightly breaded, giving it a perfect texture. Even my girlfriend, who tends to be quite picky about food, declared it the best fish fry she had ever tasted. Since our visit, she has been eager to return and relive the mouth-watering experience.

Our server played a significant role in making our dining experience memorable. Despite being visibly busy with other tables, he remained attentive and provided exceptional service throughout our meal. The Flying Hound Alehouse also boasts an extensive selection of tap and bottled beers, ranging from local Midwest brews to international options, ensuring there's something to suit every palate.

Beyond the fantastic food and drinks, The Flying Hound Alehouse offers a lively atmosphere that's perfectly fitting for its name. The energetic ambience adds to the charm of the place, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a fun and engaging dining experience.

Don't let the strip mall location near Target deter you; The Flying Hound Alehouse is a hidden gem that's well worth a visit. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a delicious meal, outstanding service, and a vast array of beverages in a casual, welcoming, and lively atmosphere. Give this place a try, and you'll be planning your return visit before...

My wife and I had decided to give the Flying Hound a try the night of the summit promotion cups Aug 9 2017. It started off pretty well the waiter we had was a little nervous it seemed which was alright but what really had me was his attitude. He told us about the buy a summit beer get a cup and an entry while supplies last. We both got a beer and a cup. I had ordered another summit beer the nitro stout thinking I would have another entry and another cup. After our meal was finished which was average over priced bar food we asked if we got another cup. He said I didn't order a summit beer and I said I ordered the summit oatmeal stout. He mumbled he didn't know that was a summit beer and he brought me a velvet stout. I asked for him to remove the one dollar and he said I already drank some of which (two small sips because it didn't taste like and oatmeal stout) I asked to see a manager then before I could finish my fries he took both our plates said no I'll take care of it. He stormed off and when he came back he just threw the check at us and didn't say a word. For this reason I will never spend another penny at this establishment. He was very rude and didn't apologize for him messing up my beer just stormed out like a child. I also would highly recommend just going to beer bros or something for the...
