we just left from having dinner here. everything started off great. we were greeted quickly, ordered drinks, our appetizers and 2 year olds food that came out rather quickly. and able to put in our food orders shortly after. as the place began getting busier everything went downhill. we seen our waitress once after getting our appetizers about 20 minutes after getting them. and once again when she took the plate. then once more when we received our food, after an hour or longer waiting for it. a table of 5 came in across from us about 20 minutes or so after we were seated and still received their food before us, probably 20 minutes before we did. every other table around us that was sat and ordered received their food within about 20-30 minutes while we sat for minimum of an hour for ours. had we not been ignored over every other table that may have been avoided. during this time we sat with no drinks and had to drink our 2 year olds tea to have something to drink. along with all of this, we received our salads that we had completely forgotten about, about 45 minutes into waiting for our food. i was able to take about 3 bites out of it until a piece of lettuce i pushed off my fork and flipped over had a nice, big gnat smashed onto it. to which i then lost my appetite, holding my gagging back. and my husband couldn’t finish his own salad because of it. it wasn’t until our food was brought about 15-20 minutes later that the guy who brought the food asked if we were done with our salads, i was able to tell him about the gnat and show him with what seemed to be of no concern to him. once our waitress came back i asked if she had been told, she said she had not been told and would go to let them know. we still went without drinks as she hurried off before being able to ask while we also didn’t want to wait another hour for them and were ready to go. my husbands baked potato was undercooked and my scallops were a bit over cooked. i had planned to speak with a manager but again didn’t want to wait another hour before getting to ask to do so or for them to come over. my husband finally just waived down the waitress and handed his card to our waitress to go pay the bill and get togo boxes so we could leave. once we received the receipt, we seen there wasn’t at least the smallest discount applied for having a bug in my salad alone. we were excited to try something new around the area but will not be back. ohh and our 2 year olds grilled cheese and fries were good. that we ate off of while we waited. but that’s kind of hard to mess up on. so overall one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. i was a waitress for 4 years and try to give the benefit of the doubt as i know what they go through but tending to every other table around while completely ignoring ours is hard to ignore. i gave the 2 star for service since it started out well but honestly a 1 is probably all i should give. food gets a 1 for the oysters rockefeller and clam chowder appetizers and kids food.

WEDNESDAY 6/18/2025 UPDATE...Great time with fun oldies live music...great Appletini...coconut shrimp ap is XLNT! 9/20/2024 UPDATE = We went for drinks & food in the bar last night with our pals. I had my 1st RumRunner drink and it was great... but Marina told me it was $10... on the bill it was $13. ***That was NOT GOOD...Marina is the happy long time bartender and I trusted her to be correct. It's only $3 overcharge but it is MY $3 ! I would have preferred seeing $7 on the bill... I didn't want to make a fuss and seem a grump so I just bit the bullet! Past review from July = Great Saturday out at the Anchor! Marina (bartender) was a great fun waitress who was not in a hurry + helpfull + open and as nice as can be. My wife and I went to Anchor for 1st time Saturday night...and we'll be back! The martinis (dirty & lemon drop) were GREAT...FYI = heaven is between the second and third martini! The SHRIMP FLATBREAD ( $16 ) starter was EXCELLENT for 2...and all we needed... as we are light eaters. The bar interior is beachy fun with lots of Sports on TVs...

My wife & I decided to eat here on a recent Sunday evening. We checked the hours on the Google listing plus Facebook, both of which stated closing time was 9 PM. We walk into the restaurant around 7:50 PM, and the right side of the door indeed says open until 9 PM. I became inquisitive when numerous people were being turned away from the restaurant mere minutes after our arrival. Even though one side of the door says 9 PM closing time, there is another sign on the left hand side which showing temporary hours with a closing time of 8 PM. Food was good and we had a nice table in the front of the restaurant overlooking A1A and the beach. The service was understandably hurried, and we felt pressured to finish our food and leave quickly. I respect a restaurant operating under temporary hours due to staffing issues or other circumstances, but please update your social media listings to reflect these hours!

UPDATE: Melissa was an absolutely amazing waitress! We ordered a good amount of food again, and everything came out quickly and tasted fresh! (Clam Chowder, mozzarella sticks, mussels, clams, jumbo shrimp, and the Mahi Mahi) Melissa was great at keeping conversation, served drinks, and food quickly with all her tables! Thank you for making the experience wonderful and a lot of fun! Excited to come back again!

We come here every now and then, being from Bunnell we like to support our local restaurants, and it had been awhile since we had been here due to this same issue happening before, so we were giving it another chance. I want to let you know that our favorite parts of the night were the food, the local singer (whom we tipped as he sang “Funny Valentine” really well!), across from the beach for a view during the day, and its 5 miles away from home. We were seated at the high top bar area, our waitress quickly assumed we were going to order alcohol and when we say that we drink water and order food instead she didn’t seem too happy. We placed our entire order and asked for it to be slung, no delay on when it’s in the window, bring it to the table. We ordered the garlic clams, the mussels, the peel em n’ eat shrimp (not butterflied), clam chowder, and the Triggerfish. The Food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Thank you to the chef as the food was delicious! All was fine until older people started to fill the bar and not only were we completely forgotten about and taken care of by the hostess and another waiter; other folks who arrived after us were served first as they were older and drinking. Not even our chowder came out in a timely manner. We usually tip 20% or more, especially due to no tax on tips being implemented, and we have worked in the industry, but there comes a time when the waitress/bartender is more interested in serving those over the age of 65 and the tip showed it. Sad that both sections of seating we have experienced and left with a bad taste in our mouth due to the service. Hope this gets...

After dealing with the conspicuous crowds at another location nearby, we found The Anchor online and decided to give it a try.

Situated on the other side of the street and looking out onto the vast ocean scene, The Anchor provides the precise setting that comes to mind of what an ideal restaurant would look like for a dinner out during your beach vacation.

We were immediately greeted by Judy upon entering, who welcomed us and sat us immediately.

Amidst a just right ambiance (not too loud, not too quiet), we decided we had made the right decision to change to this dinner location and eagerly perused the menu filled to the brim of freshly-caught seafood dishes.

Our waitress arrived almost immediately to jot down our order, and the food was delivered hot, fresh, and lightning quick.

I opted in for the Twin Lobster Tail entree with a Caesar salad and sweet potato fries - complemented perfectly with a classic Coca-Cola.

The only reason I reserve that final fifth star is due to the fact that the wait staff was clearly overworked and stressed due to the fact of a peak-season night falling on the shoulders of only a couple of visible employees working tirelessly. Whether an accurate observation or not, this is nonetheless the only feedback our group would offer to the management and/or staffing team.

Overall, The Anchor offers and experience filled with fresh food, quick service and a welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend for those who may find themselves...
