Tldr: service was great and there were a couple of good options, but the majority of the food was lacking in taste and portion size for the price, especially compared to some of the other restaurants here and from where our group is from.
I am from out of town and went for dinner. The prime steak sandwich I had was ok, but the mashed potatoes were great. Too bad it was such a small amount for the mashed potatoes. Peel and eat shrimp was also good, I got it seasoned and cold. Service was also very quick.
However, where it derails is the experience of most of the people I went with. A good number of my friends got the lobster roll, and having experienced food truck lobster rolls from Cousins Maine Lobster truck and various other restaurant lobsters, they expected more for the price. The lobster roll was maybe 3 bites, and when I tried a piece of lobster, it was plain. The seared tuna appetizer also didn't taste of much. Having worked making sushi for 4 years previously, I've had plenty of opportunities to eat tuna, and this tuna just didn't have any flavor to it.
Another one of my friends also had the steak sandwich but got the house made chips instead. When they arrived, they were stale. One person had just the basic burger and wanted it medium, but received it pretty much raw like from an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Another had fish that had no flavor to it.
Pretty much everyone in our party agreed that while there were a couple of good food items like the mashed potato, peel and eat shrimp, oysters, and lobster bisque, pretty much every other food item was not worth the price.
We were disappointed that a place on the coast had such lackluster seafood at such high prices. Maybe it was an off day, but for everyone in our group to be dissatisfied, maybe it has...
Read moreBEST STEAK EVER! Yep you read that right - ordered a steak at a seafood restaurant & honestly was one of the best I’ve had, perfectly cooked (med rare for me) & melt in your mouth, not one tough piece. I eat out often so that’s saying something! (I was told prior to going that the steaks were great from a local so I thought I’d take their advice). We dined outside to enjoy the warm weather, service was prompt & our server was fantastic. I had the surf & turf opting to go with scallops for the surf - by far best I’ve ever had, jumbo in size with great flavouring. I went with the lobster bisque as a side ( $2 upcharge to do so) & it was worth every penny! I was tempted to order some to go to have another day - it was just THAT GOOD! First time trying lobster bisque & it won’t be the last. So tasty we all had to pass it around it was soooooo good! We also had the calamari to start - again super fresh & the ahi tuna (whilst I didn’t try as it’s not my fortay but my family said it was amazing & the crust was super delish. They opted for the shrimp pasta which again was so good we all had to sample it. Nice jumbo shrimp & the flavours all together… perfection! My daughter had the lobster roll and thoroughly enjoyed it & said she would have it again! I think the selling feature to this spot is you can taste how fresh everything is! Best seafood we’ve had in our Florida travels FOR SURE!!! My only constructive criticism is the Asiago potatoes while tasty, $2 side up charge for two small potatoes seemed pricey would suggest butter or sour cream served alongside. Outside of that is highly recommend, this is a go to spot & we...
Read moreMy family has been patrons of FFC for years, always making sure to stop in for a bite when visiting from out of town. On this most recent trip, we learned that FFC had moved locations temporarily due to the expansion of their permanent location. We were excited to go check out their current location inside the Topaz. We had decided that we were going to call ahead and order fresh fish fillets to cook at home, as this had been something that we had often enjoyed in the past. We called 24-hours in advance to order 2.5 pounds of red snapper fillets. Over the phone, we submitted our order and were told the price per pound was around $21.00. Upon getting to the restaurant the next day to pick up our fish, we were given our order and the receipt for the cost, which was much higher than we had expected. We were told that the fish had been "underquoted" and that the price per pound was actually $29.00 as opposed to $21.00. The person on the phone apologized and said that the girls taking order were "new" and that they had been occasionally misquoting orders. All this to say, nothing is wrong with the food; just be weary of prices of fresh fish quoted over the phone and check your bill. The employees answering the phone taking orders also need to be on the same page and better informed.
Update: FFC was very accommodating and provided a gift card for the difference in the quoted price versus the...
