Nice people, clean place. When we ate at Freddie’s a couple of years ago, one of the workers (probably a new hire) mixed up the condiments on our orders, including adding raw onions, to which we are both allergic. When we brought the matter up, they offered to throw the burgers away and make us new ones. We could not in conscience accept the discarding of food when so many in the world are hungry. We are also influenced by the Holodomor, the man-made famine by which Stalin wanted to break the resistance of Ukrainians to Communist rule. It resulted in some seven million deaths in 1933. All of the food was simply confiscated. We also remembered our parents’ stories about the hunger they experienced during World War 2 in Ukraine. So no throwing out of perfectly edible food. We took out the onions ourselves, and accepted the condiments as they were. Suddenly the manager appeared and gave us two vouchers for any meal we desired. This was an unexpectedly gracious move. We used those vouchers on a subsequent visit. The staff was friendly and polite both times. The food was also quite good, and the managers were very nice during both visits....
Read moreThe 5 star review is only for the frozen custard, we didn't get anything else to eat there yet. I took the purist approach and got just a cup of plain vanilla, my husband got the chocolate and vanilla swirl. They had the option of having a whole slice of key lime pie mixed in (which they call a concrete), but I was still kind of full from lunch and didn't think I could eat enough to justify more than just a small cup of the plain stuff. They actually have lots of options for mix-ins and the like, so be prepared to have to spend a minute reviewing all your options before you order.
It was easy in and out with plenty of parking available when we were there mid afternoon. I loved the frozen custard, and if you haven't had it before it's hard to understand how different it is from regular ice cream or frozen yogurt. The level of creaminess and richness is so much higher (as are the number of calories), but it's worth it as an occasional treat. If you are in the mood for something cold (especially the Arizona heat), you can't get anything...
Read moreStayed across the street from here at the Marriott Courtyard (which I also recommend). Didn't get shakes or dessert (we're going back for that later), we both got burgers. I got the single with cheese combo (w/drink and fries) and the hubs got a double with bacon and cheese combo. It was really quite good. I don't really 'get' the concept of a flat burger, all of my training says that you're letting the juices ooze out when you squoosh it like that. But it was quite good.
I don't know why shoestring fries excite me, but they do. I was so excited when I picked up my order and that's what they were!
This didn't look like a diner to me from the outside, but the inside feel is very diner-ey. Nothing wrong with that, just giving you that extra little bit of information. They have a drive through that appeared to be busy the whole time we had lunch.
Didn't use the restroom during my visit, but everything in the dining area was clean. The staff was quite friendly.
If you're looking for quality good tasting fast food, this is a...
