Captain D's — Restaurant in Florence

I used to love eating here. It was one of my favorite places to go. Lovely atmosphere, great staff, friendly management. More than your average fast food restaurant. In the last 2 or so years, it has completely did a 360. Your no longer greeted at the door, and if you are it's in a forced, unnatural, sometimes rude attitude. When they bring your trays to the table, they lay them down, it's a "here you go" and they walk away as quickly as they can. Sometimes I just get my tray laid in front of me without them even saying a word. When it used to be a pleasant female/male with a smile walking to the table taking your food off the tray and giving it to each person individually (unless they were busy) but always was it followed by, if you need anything at all don't be afraid to let myself or anyone else know and we will be happy to get it for you. They used to come to your table at least 2 times during your meal and ask you how it was, if you needed refills, most of the time I never even had to get up to go get myself another drink! I mean that succeeds fast food, and any other "fast food" chain in the area.... and that's one of the reasons I loved it there. but things have changed. That kind of service just doesn't happen here anymore. Like I said, I loved this place. I was in AT LEAST once a week. Now all I see is nasty attitudes. I've heard dirty language and nasty conversations spoken loudly enough by the workers the whole dining area can hear it, I've seen a young girl blatantly arguing with a costumer and telling them she isn't going to fix anything about the problem they are having, all while wearing a "manager" badge on her shirt. I've seen the same "manager" roll her eyes at costumers over simple requests, I've witnessed her bad talk costumers after they leave. I've heard her say "god I can't stand these people and I don't get paid enough for all of this" speaking and saying this to crew members, all with costumers in arms length of her, and if I have heard these few things I can't even imagine what a lot of other people have witnessed and heard coming from a girl that was chosen to represent this store and brand. I mean that in itself is a joke! The other employees at the counter, just don't act like they want to be there, and most of the time I'm in eating all they do is sit at the counter or SOMETIMES ON the counter tops in the front, to chat and gossip. I also don't appreciate the fact they eat and drink at the counter if it's slower, but then serve costumers when they get them in between without sanitizing or washing there hands!!! Nothing like it used to be. I have also been here a few times around closing time, (over an hour or an hour and a half before) and was told I couldn't sit in a certain area or booth because they were about to clean it and close it for the night. Never has that been an issue until the past couple of years..... like I said and will say again. It's not the same. The staff, the management especially has completely changed. It's not the captain D's I loved going to. Joe, I don't know what happened to your store. But you lost a costumer that has been coming to your restaurant for over 10 years. I held out long enough hoping it would change only to see it worsen. The damage that has been done to this business I don't even know is redeemable or fixable. The unprofessional horrible behavior that I have seen coming from not only crew members, but with people that you call, and put out on the floor as a manager??? It's a complete disaster. I'm fed up and disgusted at what this place has turned into over the years. Something needs to be done, and fast. Because I'm sure I'm not the only one that...

I had just called to ensure if the store was open girl answered said they were open till 11pm I pulled in the parking lot parked and went upto the door they are locked sign says "closed at 7pm no heat" (it was 70 degrees outside) it was like 9:15 pm. So hop back into the car drove around back employees are having a texting hang out party at the back. 0 customer but me. I asked them if they were open girl said they closed inside early because it had been busy earlier in the day and they didn't have the staff but 4+ employees were hanging out doing nothing getting paid maybe cut there hours so that can free them up to be able to go hang out at home not milk the clock. So she says drive thru is open so I ordered a 6 piece chicken tenders 2 sides and hush puppies. They were out of Mac and cheese so I tried to order green beans and corn get upto to pay the price was a lil off girl says tax it's off more than Tax so I asked again she says well it cost extra for corn I was like ohh I'm I'll order green beans and cole slaw. She spilled her drink that she brought with her to the window so that may have set her off I dk Not my drink probably shouldn't have had it there at the window in the first place. She seemed pretty mad I had to switch to a different side that I was able to pay for due to not having extra money. I get my food she didn't ask if I needed sauce's anything so I asked for a couple salt and pepper and butter and a whole lot of ketchup napkins. She had me like 10-15 salt and pepper 0 butter and 5 ketchup so I said can I get some more ketchup she was like well we can only give you so many I'm like I got a 6 piece tender and 2 hush puppies not even enough for each item so she reluctantly and with Malace gives me a few more smashing them into my hand causing a couple to fall to the ground. I left get to my work wait for my break time No butter No water to eat my food with. Store hours are wrong on Google listing as well as the door causing confusion as to weather or not to come dine there as well. Have tried to call back multiple times to talk to a Manager now no one answers the phone. So it's been 10 years since I been to a Capt D's I...

FIRST! Let's agree that the manager for the last 30+years-------3 Centuries was Business Perfect! Actually AWESOME! CHRISTIE Is The Girl!! Always the cleanest eating establishment within 100 mile radius. Always had a sweet and pleasant greeting and smile. Most efficient in Customer care and Service. We appreciate and miss you more than you can ever know. Have a beautiful retirement Christie and know so so many people truly remember and love you.

DEAR OWNER, I NEVER NEW ANYONE WHO NEEDED A CELEBRATED "ATTABOY" IN MY LIFE! 74YR. HER SKILL IN MANAGEMENT IS UNEQUALED. SHE - Always the most organized and the place ran like a TOP! Always freshly cooked, very nice staff, try the senior 2 pc. Catfish, and the 4 pc. Fish tenders, the absolute best! The place is cleaned throughout the day, I mean CLEAN!

29 Mar. 2023 update - Coming here since 1986. 2 - 3 times per month. The hottest, crispy, fresh, cleanest fish in this town! And also the cleanest restaurant we have ever eaten in! Takes a few minutes because food is cooked to order so it's blazing hot! This is a great little seafood place!!

7 OCT. 23 update - VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW!!! Yeah, their food is still just awesome!! After all these years!!
